Purpose: Advancements in sequencing technologies have significantly improved clinical genetic testing, yet the diagnostic yield remains around 30-40%. Emerging technologies are now being deployed to address the remaining diagnostic gap.

Methods: We tested whether short-read genome sequencing could increase the diagnostic yield in individuals enrolled into the UCI-GREGoR research study, who had suspected Mendelian conditions and prior inconclusive testing.

An aptasensor-based fluorescent signal amplification strategy for highly sensitive detection of mycotoxins.

Anal Methods

September 2025

Key Laboratory of Biorheological Science and Technology of Ministry of Education, College of Bioengineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, P. R. China.

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is one of the most toxic mycotoxins that pose great health threats to humans. Herein, an aptasensor-based fluorescent signal amplification strategy is developed for the detection of AFB1. Initially, the AFB1 aptamers labelled with carboxyfluorescein (FAM) are adsorbed onto graphene oxide (GO), triggering energy transfer.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of organic salts with melting points below 100°C. Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, they are used as solvents and catalysts in various chemical transformations, progressively replacing common volatile organic solvents (VOCs) in green synthetic applications. However, their intrinsic ionic nature can restrict the use of mass spectrometric techniques to monitor the time progress of a reaction occurring in an IL medium, thus preventing one from following the formation of the reaction products or intercepting the reaction intermediates.

Objective: From October 18-20, 2022, the National Institutes of Health held a workshop to examine the state of the science concerning obesity interventions in adults to promote health equity. The workshop had three objectives: (1) Convene experts from key institutions and the community to identify gaps in knowledge and opportunities to address obesity, (2) generate recommendations for obesity prevention and treatment to achieve health equity, and (3) identify challenges and needs to address obesity prevalence and disparities, and develop a diverse workforce.

Methods: A three-day virtual convening.

Background: Kaempferol (KAE), a bioactive flavonoid, has limited solubility and stability in water. Zein-gum arabic (GA) nanoparticles (NPs) are promising carriers for KAE, but the influence of preparation methods on their structure and properties remains unclear. This study investigated the effect of preparation method on the structure and properties of KAE-loaded zein-GA NPs.
