Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR), thanks to high spatial resolution and absence of ionizing radiation, has been widely used in myocardial infarction (MI) assessment to evaluate cardiac structure, function, perfusion and viability. Nevertheless, it suffers from limitations in tissue and assessment of myocardial pathophysiological changes subsequent to MI. In this issue, nanoparticle-based contrast agents offer the possibility to track biological processes at cellular and molecular level underlying the various phases of MI, infarct healing and tissue repair. In this paper, first we examine the conventional CMR protocol and its findings in MI patients. Next, we looked at how nanoparticles can help in the imaging of MI and give an overview of the major approaches currently explored. Based on the presentation of successful nanoparticle applications as contrast agents (CAs) in preclinical and clinical models, we discuss promises and outstanding challenges facing the field of CMR in MI, their translational potential and clinical application.

Objective: To identify significant risk factors for incidental durotomy (ID) in initial posterior decompression surgery for lumbar central canal stenosis and to explore whether these risks vary by surgical approach through subgroup analyses.
Methods: This study included patients who underwent single-level posterior decompression surgery for lumbar central canal stenosis with bilateral neurogenic claudication at eight hospitals between April 2017 and May 2023. Patient demographics, comorbidities, and surgical details, including surgeon certification status, were collected.

The clinical demand for safer, more precise, and functionally versatile imaging tools has intensified with the increasing complexity of disease diagnosis and management. Despite major strides in imaging technologies such as MRI, CT, USG, and PET/SPECT, many modalities are grappled by issues including low specificity, high systemic toxicity of contrast agents, and limited ability to provide real-time functional data. Dreaded by these shortcomings, nanotechnology-based approaches such as liposomes, quantum dots (QDs), polymeric nanoparticles (NPs), gold NPs, lipid NPs, and metallic NPs have emerged as promising alternatives.

The biocontrol fungus Purpureocillium lilacinum PLBJ-1 produces leucinostatins, a class of non-ribosomal peptides (NRPs) with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the optimization of culture conditions for leucinostatin production remain unexplored. Previous research showed that PLBJ-1 synthesizes leucinostatins more effectively in hand-made Potato Dextrose Broth (PDB-M) than in commercially available PDB (PDB-C).

Lung cancer, as one of the cancers with the highest morbidity and mortality rates in the world, requires accurate detection of its vital serum marker, neuron-specific enolase (NSE), which is a key challenge for early detection of lung cancer. However, traditional chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) methods rely on labeled antibodies (Abs) and suffer from complex operations and high costs. In this work, a label-free CLIA based on CL-functionalized mesoporous magnetic nanoparticles (CuFeO@mSiO-Cys-Luminol-Au NPs) is developed for the rapid and sensitive detection of NSE.

Compounds that possess a benzene sulfonamide structure are utilized in a wide range of fields. Benzene bissulfonamides are also important compounds in the field of organic and medicinal chemistry. Based on these features, a series of benzene bissulfonamides were synthesized in moderate yields starting from 3-methylanisole.
