Article Abstract

The scope and limitations of Eaton's rhodium(I)-catalyzed valence isomerization of cubane to cyclooctatetraene (COT) were investigated in the context of functional group tolerability, multiple substitution modes and the ability of cubane-alcohols to undergo one-pot tandem Ley-Griffith Wittig reactions in the absence of a transition metal catalyst.

We report the design of curved anthracene systems that undergo efficient Dewar isomerization upon visible light absorption and release heat through thermally triggered reverse isomerization, with high cyclability. These systems achieve remarkably high energy storage capacities-up to 170 kJ/mol and 0.65 MJ/kg-comparable to the best reported MOST materials, while offering the added capability of harnessing standard solar spectrum and presenting chemical robustness.

Laser excitation of ^{229}Th nuclei in doped wide band gap crystals has been demonstrated recently, opening the possibility of developing ultrastable solid-state clocks and sensitive searches for new physics. We develop a quantitative theory of the internal conversion (IC) of isomeric ^{229}Th in solid-state hosts and elucidate a crucial requirement in choosing the solid-state hosts in nuclear clock applications. The IC of the isomer proceeds by resonantly exciting a valence band electron to a defect state, accompanied by multiphonon emission.

In this work, new photoinduced reversible molecular switches in planar supramolecular systems based on crown-substituted samarium and europium bis-phthalocyaninates have been discovered and investigated. The possibility to control the redox-isomeric equilibrium, established in Langmuir monolayers of the studied compounds at the air/water interface, by UV-irradiation and red light has been shown for the first time. In this work the fact of redox isomerization is experimentally detected using UV-Vis absorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

Access to Sondheimer-Wong Diyne-Embedded Diaza[7]helicene with High Dissymmetry Factor Via Spontaneous Valence Isomerization.

Org Lett

Co-Innovation Center for Efficient Processing and Utilization of Forest Products, College of Chemical Engineering, Nanjing Forestry University, Longpan Road 159, Nanjing, 210037, P. R. China.

The synthesis of Sondheimer-Wong diyne-fused diaza[7]helicene was achieved through spontaneous valence isomerization, which was a key step. Crystallographic analysis resolved the diaza[7]helicene's absolute configuration. The , and ,enantiomers were separated by chiral HPLC and further characterized by CD and CPL spectroscopy.

The kinetics of Ta + CH and related reactions TaCH + CH ( = 2-4, = , 2, 3) are measured from 300-600 K using a selected-ion flow tube apparatus. Complicated kinetics are analyzed through a novel bootstrapping methodology, and rate constants for 38 unimolecular, bimolecular, and ternary processes are reported at each of the four temperatures. As has been well-established, Ta efficiently dehydrogenates methane through a non-spin-conserved process.
