Objective: To determine the prevalence, spectrum, and prognostic significance of copy number variants of undetermined significance (cnVUS) seen on chromosomal microarray (CMA) in neonates with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS).
Study Design: Neonates with HLHS who presented to Texas Children's Hospital between June 2008 and December 2016 were identified. CMA results were abstracted and compared against copy number variations (CNVs) in ostensibly healthy individuals gathered from the literature. Findings were classified as normal, consistent with a known genetic disorder, or cnVUS. Survival was then compared using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Secondary outcomes included tracheostomy, feeding tube at discharge, cardiac arrest, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
Results: Our study cohort comprised 105 neonates with HLHS, including 70 (66.7%) with normal CMA results, 9 (8.6%) with findings consistent with a known genetic disorder, and 26 (24.7%) with a cnVUS. Six of the 26 (23.0%) neonates with a cnVUS had a variant that localized to a specific region of the genome seen in the healthy control population. One-year survival was 84.0% in patients with a cnVUS, 68.3% in those with normal CMA results, and 33.3% in those with a known genetic disorder (P = .003). There were no significant differences in secondary outcomes among the groups, although notably ECMO was used in 15.7% of patients with normal CMA and was not used in those with cnVUS and abnormal results (P = .038).
Conclusions: Among children with HLHS, cnVUSs detected on CMA are common. The cnVUSs do not localize to specific regions of the genome, and are not associated with worse outcomes compared with normal CMA results.

It has been noticed that when the waiting time distribution exhibits a transition from an intermediate time power-law decay to a long-time exponential decay in the continuous time random walk model, a transition from anomalous diffusion to normal diffusion can be observed at the population level. However, the mechanism behind the transition of waiting time distribution is rarely studied. In this paper, we provide one possible mechanism to explain the origin of such a transition.

The distribution of particle radioactivity and the radioactive distribution are described by modeling the stabilized nuclear cloud. In addition, a three-dimensional radiation calculation module and a radionuclide calculation module are constructed based on the vertical diffusion theory of radioactive materials and the radionuclide fractionation model.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of prenatal chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) for fetuses at high risk for various conditions on chromosomal abnormalities.
Methods: In the study, 8,560 clinical samples were collected from pregnant women between February 2018 and June 2022, including 75 villus, 7,642 amniotic fluid, and 843 umbilical cord blood samples. All samples were screening for chromosomal abnormalities using both CMA and karyotyping.

Objective: This study investigates the association between alobar holoprosencephaly (HPE) and de novo germline microdeletions in the Xq25 region. To develop a Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorders (PGT-M) based workflow enabling high-resolution preimplantation detection of sub-Mb microdeletions, overcoming the >1 Mb resolution limit of conventional whole genome amplification(WGA) copy number variation(CNV) sequencing to identify causative Xq25 variants and prevent pathogenic microdeletion transmission.
Methods: This study presents a clinical case involving a couple with an adverse obstetric history accompanied by two occurrences of HPE.

Background: Fetal hyperechoic kidney is an important soft marker in prenatal ultrasonography; however, the causes of this phenomenon are unclear. Therefore, we analyzed genetic diagnosis results, assessed pregnancy outcomes, and conducted postnatal follow-up to provide evidence for prenatal eugenics.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 94 cases with fetal hyperechoic kidneys identified between November 2017 and January 2024.
