The duplication of 5' segment of is a rare molecular event in childhood leukemia, and the influence on prognosis is unknown. Here, we report on a boy who developed acute monocytic leukemia. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed the duplication of the 5' segment with 2 normal alleles at which was eventually found to be fused with . Chemotherapy promptly induced the first complete remission in the patient at our facility, and the patient remained in first complete remission with negative minimal residual disease at 3.5 years from diagnosis. Our case is similar to two previously reported patients who had partial duplication of the 5' segment of with a - rearrangement. Further studies and experience with this cryptic translocation may shed more light on the management of acute myeloid leukemia.

Branched-chain amino acid aminotransferases (BCATs) catalyze both the final anabolic step and the initial catabolic step of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which are pivotal for the formation of plant branched-chain volatiles (BCVs). However, the members of BCAT family in apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) remain poorly characterized.

However, copying an extended molecule requires highly processive copying machinery and high fidelity that scales with the genome size to avoid the error catastrophe. Here, we explore these fidelity requirements in an alternative architecture, the virtual circular genome, in which no one physical molecule encodes the full genetic information.

B-box (BBX) transcription factors are critical regulators of light-mediated anthocyanin biosynthesis, influencing peel coloration in plants. To explore their role in red mango cultivars, we identified 32 genes (-) in the mango ( L.) genome using a genome-wide analysis.

Functioning as molecular chaperones, heat shock proteins (HSPs) are rapidly upregulated under stress conditions, safeguarding cells against damage induced by heat, mechanical injury, and chemical agents. Despite their critical physiological roles, a comprehensive genome-wide characterization of HSP genes has been lacking for Sebastes schlegelii, a commercially important coastal benthic fish. In this study, we systematically identified the HSP gene family and analyzed its expression profiles.

Background: Pear scab, caused by Venturia nashicola, is one of the most serious diseases affecting Asian pear (Pyrus spp.) production. While single-gene resistance has been used in breeding, it is often overcome by evolving pathogens.
