Background: Point-of-care ultrasonography has become a valuable tool for assessing diaphragmatic function in critically ill patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation. However, conventional diaphragm ultrasound assessment remains highly operator-dependent and subjective. Previous research introduced automatic measurement of diaphragmatic excursion and velocity using 2D speckle-tracking technology.

Background: This study investigates the clinical value of a structured team approach incorporating shared decision-making in managing critically ill pregnant patients within an obstetrics intensive care unit (ICU).
Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 100 critically ill pregnant women admitted to our hospital's obstetrics ICU between January 2023 and December 2024. Participants were allocated via random number table to either the control group receiving conventional multidisciplinary resuscitation care (n = 50) or the observation group receiving the structured team model with shared decision-making (n = 50).

This study aimed to evaluate the association between a dietary education approach grounded in the transtheoretical model and cognitive load theory and glycemic control and pregnancy-related outcomes in patients diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). A retrospective analysis was performed using clinical data from 126 pregnant women with GDM who received care at our hospital between September 2021 and September 2023. Participants were grouped based on the type of nursing intervention received: a control group that underwent standard care and an observation group that received an additional cognitive load-informed dietary education program based on transtheoretical model.

Background: Soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infections remain a public health problem in Uganda despite biannual national deworming campaigns implemented since the early 2000s. Recent surveys have indicated a heterogeneous STH infection prevalence, suggesting that the current blanket deworming strategy may no longer be cost-effective. This study identified infection predictors, estimated the geographic distribution of STH infection prevalence by species, and calculated deworming needs for school-age children (SAC).

This article proposes a novel model-based planning framework for freeway ramp metering (RM), denoted as Koopman-driven linearized model-based offline planning (KLMOP). This framework integrates the model predictive control (MPC) and offline reinforcement learning (RL) under assumptions of a linear Markov decision process (MDP) with the Koopman operator. KLMOP introduces a fully linearized control framework by learning and modeling the dynamics, reward function, and value function in a latent space through a Koopman-based latent dynamical model (KLDM) and a pessimistic value iteration (PEVI) algorithm.
