Article Abstract

The aim of the current study was to examine the effects of group 13 metals on CpTiCl reduction in the presence of 2-methoxyethanol (MeOEtOH) or ethanol (EtOH) and the compositions of the resulting products. Direct reaction of CpTiCl and M [Al, Al (Fe contaminated), Ga, In] in toluene/alcohol for 2 h gave a new family of uncommon homo- and heterometallic compounds: [CpTiAl(μ,η-OEtOMe)Cl][Ti(μ,η-OEtOMe)(η-OEtOMe)Cl] (1), [CpTiAl(μ,η-OEtOMe)Cl]Cl (2), [CpTiAl(μ,η-OEtOMe)Cl][CpTi(η-HOEtOMe)][FeCl] (3), [CpTi(η-HOEtOMe)][GaCl][Cl] (4), [CpTi(μ-OEt)(OEt)][GaCl] (5), [CpTi(μ,η-OEtOMe)Cl] (6), and [CpTi(μ,η-OEtOMe)(μ-OEtOMe)Cl] (7). The reaction with indium for 48 h resulted in isolation of [TiIn(μ,η-OEtOMe)(OEtOMe)Cl] (8), [In(μ-OEtOMe)(HOEtOMe)Cl] (9), and [Ti(OEtOMe)] (10). The complexes were characterized using elemental analysis, IR and NMR spectroscopies, and, for 1-9, single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The use of metallic gallium and indium to reduce CpTiCl opens up a previously unexplored path that may provide access to novel and unique compounds.

The failure of the therapeutic administration of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzymes to prevent oxidative stress has fostered the development of metal complexes that are capable of mimicking their activity. In the present work, two new pyridine azacyclophane ligands capable of coordinating Cu and Fe to give rise to mimetics with high activities toward disproportionation of the superoxide anion or hydrogen peroxide, depending on the metal ion, have been prepared. Although the Cu complexes have some of the highest SOD activities reported to date, they are completely inactive toward HO disproportionation.

Clinical Doses of Gadodiamide Have No Damaging Effects on Cochlear Tissue In Vitro and In Vivo.

Gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) are widely used in systemic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and can be employed in otology to evaluate endolymphatic hydrops in patients with Ménière's disease. Given the heavy metal properties of gadolinium and its tendency to deposit in tissues, it is essential to assess its ototoxic risk. We evaluated the ototoxicity of gadodiamide using in vitro and in vivo models.

Lignin, a negatively charged, three-dimensional natural biopolymer, serves as an ideal support for metal catalysts due to its abundant functional groups and tunable chemical properties, which enable strong metal coordination and effective immobilization. Herein, we demonstrate a lignin-mediated Co/O co-doped AgS, symbolized as L-AgCoOS, bimetal oxysulfide catalyst via a facile hydrolysis method for the efficient reduction of toxic phenolic compounds (4-nitrophenol, 4-NP), organic dyes (methyl orange (MO), methylene blue (MB), rhodamine B (RhB), and heavy metal ions Cr(VI)) under dark conditions. Lignin, used to immobilize catalysts, also contributes to increasing the number of active catalytic sites and enhancing catalytic activity.

Synthesis and Evaluation of Phenoxybenzylpiperidinyl Analogues as Agonists of the Chemokine Receptor CCR8.

Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation, Rega Institute for Medical Research, Molecular, Structural and Translational Virology Research Group, KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium.

The human chemokine receptor 8 (CCR8) received attention as target for the treatment of various autoimmune disorders. Phenoxybenzylpiperidine analogues are known to act as CCR8 agonists, although their structure-activity relationship (SAR) has been studied to a limited extent. In this study, the SAR of phenoxybenzylpiperidinyl analogues was explored in a systematic way by fusion or insertion of various heterocyclic groups on the piperidinyl ring, yielding a set of 21 novel phenoxybenzylpiperidinyl derivatives.

Convergent Paired Electrolysis Enables Electrochemical Halogen-Atom Transfer-Mediated Alkyl Radical Cross-Coupling.

The direct cross-coupling of unactivated alkyl halides with aryl or heteroaryl partners remains a fundamental challenge in synthetic chemistry due to their inertness and propensity for side reactions. Herein, we report a transition-metal-free electrochemical halogen-atom transfer strategy that enables efficient alkyl radical cross-coupling via convergent paired electrolysis. In this system, anodically generated α-aminoalkyl radicals mediate the activation of alkyl iodides, while aryl/heteroaryl aldehydes or nitriles undergo cathodic reduction to afford persistent ketyl radical anions or aryl radical anions.
