This study investigated the effects of a low-frequency polarized electric field (LFPEF) on postharvest disease resistance and storage quality of grapes. LFPEF treatment (3 h/d) significantly reduced weight loss, suppressed lesion expansion, and maintained fruit firmness by reinforcing cell wall integrity and enhancing defense-related enzyme activities. Mechanistic analyses indicated that LFPEF activated Ca signaling, promoted calcium accumulation, and upregulated calcium sensor genes, thereby contributing to membrane stabilization.

Hyperlipidemia is a common chronic disease characterized by elevated levels of lipids in the blood. There is some evidence that suggests that berberine (BBR) might be beneficial for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. However, its low intestinal bioavailability limits its potential therapeutic action.

Adrenal lipomas are benign tumors containing ectopic adipose tissue in the adrenal gland, an organ that normally lacks both adipocytes and their progenitors. The origin of this ectopic fat remains enigmatic, and the absence of a genetic animal model has hindered its investigation. Phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate [PI(3,4,5)P], a key signaling lipid that regulates cellular growth and differentiation, is tightly regulated by the lipid phosphatases PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homolog) and SHIP2 (SH2-containing inositol phosphatase 2).

The present study aimed to investigate the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of EPA-enriched phospholipids (EPA-PL) and DHA-enriched phospholipids (DHA-PL) against dexamethasone (DEX)-induced skeletal muscle atrophy both in vitro and in vivo. Results revealed that EPA-PL and DHA-PL significantly attenuated DEX-induced reduction in C2C12 myotube diameter. Additionally, supplementation with 1 % EPA-PL or 1 % DHA-PL for 6 weeks effectively alleviated DEX-induced declines in grip strength, skeletal muscle mass, and myofiber cross-sectional areas in mice.

Cholesterol homeostasis dysregulation is a primary risk factor for atherosclerosis (AS) development. Fisetin, a flavonoid compound, has shown promise in regulating cholesterol homeostasis by enhancing transintestinal cholesterol excretion (TICE). This study aimed to investigate the regulatory effects and underlying mechanisms of fisetin in AS.
