Asthma in sickle cell disease (SCD) patients is associated with elevated morbidity and mortality. Early detection and initiation of treatment may therefore lead to improved outcome. Utility of an asthma screening questionnaire to identify obstructive airway disease and physician diagnosed asthma in children with SCD at an outpatient setting as an effective, easy-to-administer screening tool has not previously been evaluated in this population. A previously validated asthma screening questionnaire and spirometry were prospectively administered to 41 SCD children at a routine clinic visit. Prevalence of obstructive airway was 51.2% ( = 21) and physician diagnosis of asthma 33.3% ( = 13). Sensitivity (40%) and specificity (75%) of the questionnaire was poor in detecting obstructive airway disease, but sensitivity (77%), specificity (100%), positive predictive value (100%), and negative predictive value (90%) were high in detecting physician diagnosis of asthma. An asthma screening questionnaire could be a useful tool in identifying at-risk SCD children who may benefit from further management.

Purpose: To report a case of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) initially presenting as orbital involvement, describe its successful management, and provide a comprehensive literature review.
Case Report: A 33-year-old female patient presented with swelling, redness, tenderness, and a mass under the left upper eyelid for one month. Upper lid eversion showed a multilobulated lesion in the subconjunctival area of the same region.

Inhaled and intranasal corticosteroids are widely used in the management of allergic respiratory diseases. Delayed drug hypersensitivity reactions to budesonide are a rare adverse drug reaction characterized by non-immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mediated clinical manifestations, including localized or systemic contact dermatitis, mucosal edema, and paradoxical worsening of pre-existing symptoms. However, such reactions are often underdiagnosed due to atypical presentations.

Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is an epithelial cell-derived cytokine that plays a crucial role in the pathophysiology of asthma, initiating multiple allergic cascade responses. Tezepelumab is the only monoclonal antibody currently approved for marketing, which acts by blocking TSLP binding to TSLPR. However, it is reported that a TSLP trap which simultaneously block TSLP binding with TSLPR and IL-7Rα has better efficiency in the repression of TSLP signal pathway.

Animal allergens, particularly those from cats, dogs, and horses, are significant risk factors for the development of allergic diseases in childhood. Managing animal allergies requires allergen avoidance and, when this is not feasible, specific immunotherapy. Patient history remains the cornerstone of diagnosis, providing the foundation for diagnostic algorithms.

Ladakh is a hilly Himalayan dry desert, situated at an altitude of >11,000 feet. Studies have demonstrated that the spirometric values of high-altitude residents are significantly higher than those of low landers. This is a retrospective observational study that analyzes the spirometry pattern in chronic lung diseases among people from Ladakh.
