Article Abstract

A rapid, mild and high-yield microwave synthesis of 1D isotypical [Ln(H4bmt)(H5bmt)(H2O)2]·3H2O coordination polymers is presented. The La(3+)-based material is highly active as a heterogeneous catalyst in the methanolysis of styrene oxide at nearly room temperature. Eu(3+)- and Tb(3+)-doped materials are very effective UV-to-visible light converters.

Linear magnetic nanoparticle structures as key feature in magnetic particle imaging.

September 2025

Institute of Applied Medical Engineering, Helmholtz Institute, RWTH Aachen University Medical Faculty, Pauwelsstraße 20, Aachen, 52074, GERMANY.

Objective: Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) opens huge possibilities in image-guided therapy. Its effectiveness is strongly influenced by the quality of the magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) used as tracers. Besides MNP optimization following different synthesis routes, MNP assembly into linear structures can significantly enhance their performance in MPI.

Coordination-inspired assembly of binary nanocrystal superlattices featuring a diamond-like sublattice.

We present a coordination-inspired strategy for assembling binary nanocrystal superlattices (BNSLs) using CdSe nanotetrapods as symmetry-encoding building blocks. Exploiting their intrinsic tetrahedral geometry, which mimics the sp hybridization of carbon atoms in a diamond lattice, we encode spatially defined binding sites that guide regioselective coassembly with spherical nanocrystals. By tuning the size ratio between components, we achieve both three-dimensional and two-dimensional BNSLs with long-range structural order.

Myocardial injury constitutes a life-threatening complication of sepsis, driven by synergistic oxidative-inflammatory pathology involving dysregulated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and proinflammatory cytokines. This pathophysiological cascade remarkably elevates morbidity and mortality rates in septic patients, emerging as a key contributor to poor clinical outcomes. Despite its clinical significance, no clinically validated therapeutics currently exist for managing septic cardiomyopathy.

Diatom-Inspired Scaffold for Infected Bone Defect Therapy: Achieving Stable Photothermal Properties and Coordinated Antibacterial-Osteogenic Functions.

State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, National Center for Stomatology, National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Department of Orthodontics, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University, Chengdu, 610041, China.

Bone defect therapy frequently encounters bacterial infections and chronic inflammation, which impair bone regeneration and threaten implant stability. Iron oxide nanoparticles have attracted attention due to cost-effectiveness, biocompatibility, and metabolic safety. However, iron oxide nanoparticles still struggle to balance low-temperature efficient antibacterial activity, effective immunomodulation, and bone regeneration.

Coordination polymers (CPs) are versatile materials formed by metal ions and organic ligands, offering a broad range of structural and functional possibilities. Phosphonates and phosphinates are particularly attractive ligands for CPs due to their multiple binding sites, varied coordination geometries, and ability to form robust network structures. Phosphonates, considered harder ligands, form strong bonds with hard metals such as Fe, while phosphinates offer additional versatility due to the varied pendant groups on phosphorus.
