Two birds with one stone: the simultaneous production of two important bulk chemicals, methanol and ethylene glycol, from CO(2) and ethylene oxide has been achieved under mild conditions by the highly efficient homogeneous catalytic hydrogenation of ethylene carbonate in the presence of a (PNP)Ru(II) catalyst.

Herein, we report the first regio- and enantioselective synthesis of tetrahydropyrido[2,3-]pyrazines using a chiral iridacycle catalyst. Pyridyl diamines and diketones undergo sequential annulation and asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of the generated pyrido[2,3-]pyrazine intermediates. This method provides diverse fused N-heterocycles in high yields (up to 95%) and enantioselectivity (98.

The failure of the therapeutic administration of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzymes to prevent oxidative stress has fostered the development of metal complexes that are capable of mimicking their activity. In the present work, two new pyridine azacyclophane ligands capable of coordinating Cu and Fe to give rise to mimetics with high activities toward disproportionation of the superoxide anion or hydrogen peroxide, depending on the metal ion, have been prepared. Although the Cu complexes have some of the highest SOD activities reported to date, they are completely inactive toward HO disproportionation.

In this study, a novel bleaching method for ramie cellulose fibers with low oxidative damage was developed by utilizing the properties of sodium percarbonate contained in tea saponin, which slowly releases hydrogen peroxide in the catalytic oxidation system of N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI). First, the bleaching process was optimized using response surface design, followed by comparison and characterization of fiber properties prepared under different bleaching systems. Finally, the energy consumption, water consumption, and toxicity of the NHPI/tea saponin system were evaluated.

Harnessing the significant buildup of lactic acid (LA) within the tumor microenvironment (TME) for metabolic manipulation presents a promising avenue for cancer treatment. Nevertheless, single-agent therapies often fail to address the complex and varying needs of TME heterogeneity, posing a substantial scientific hurdle in oncology. In this context, we employ asymmetric mesoporous silica nanoparticles (AMS NPs) as delivery vehicles, simultaneously loading them with zinc‑cobalt‑manganese ferrite nanoparticles (ZCMF NPs), lactate oxidase (LOX), and doxorubicin (DOX).

Organic nucleophile-assisted natural seawater electrolysis has emerged as a promising strategy for green hydrogen production by significantly reducing energy consumption. Among Ni-based electrocatalysts, NiMoO has drawn attention for its activity in both oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and urea oxidation reaction (UOR). However, its practical application is hindered by severe surface passivation, particularly at industrial current densities (e.
