New distributional data are reported on the rare phanaeine dung beetle, Oxysternon pteroderum Nevinson, 1892, based on five specimens recently collected between 1985 and 2010. Before the present study, Oxysternun pteroderum had been reported solely from the super-moist Atlantic coastal forests of southeastern Brazil. We now believe that the distribution of Oxysternun pteroderum follows the riparian areas of large rivers connected to the super-moist forest ecosystem.

Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, such as Empagliflozin, are antidiabetic drugs that reduce glucose levels and have emerged as a promising therapy for patients with heart failure (HF), although the exact molecular mechanisms underlying their cardioprotective effects remain to be fully elucidated. The EmDia study, a randomized, double-blind trial conducted at the University Medical Center of Mainz, has confirmed the beneficial effects of Empagliflozin in HF patients after both one and twelve weeks of treatment. In this work, we aimed to assess whether changes in lipid profiles driven by Empagliflozin use in HF patients in the EmDia trial could assist in gaining a better understanding of its cardioprotective mechanisms.

Background: Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) has been proven to be a safe and effective alternative to surgery in patients with metastatic primary sarcoma. However, data describing tumor response in relation to the given radiotherapy dose is lacking. Therefore, this study aims at analyzing efficacy and dose-response relationship in a retrospective cohort.

Background: Hospital admissions occur frequently in nursing homes and are often preventable. Inappropriate hospitalisations due to nursing home-sensitive conditions pose significant risks to residents, place additional strain on emergency departments and hospitals, and thus lead to substantial healthcare costs. In light of demographic changes- characterised by an aging and increasingly multimorbid nursing home population- combined with ubiquitous lack of health care professionals, new strategies are urgently needed to ensure adequate medical care in nursing homes.

Surgical instrument segmentation plays an important role in robotic autonomous surgical navigation systems as it can accurately locate surgical instruments and estimate their posture, which helps surgeons understand the position and orientation of the instruments. However, there are still some problems affecting segmentation accuracy, like insufficient attention to the edges and center of surgical instruments, insufficient usage of low-level feature details, etc. To address these issues, a lightweight network for surgical instrument segmentation in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy (GESur_Net) is proposed.

g is a design-comparable effect size that has been recommended by the What Works Clearinghouse since 2020 to assess an intervention effect in single-case studies and for meta-analyses. Yet, no research has systematically studied how g's performance could be impacted by its non-convergence, and how g's non-convergence and performance could be improved by increasing the case size (m) and measurement size (N). This study expanded on the work of Pustejovsky et al.
