Spreading non-Newtonian liquids with non-power-law rheology on completely wetting surfaces are seldom investigated. This study assessed the wetting behavior of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), a Newtonian fluid, two carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) sodium solutions, a PDMS+2%w/w silica nanoparticle suspension and three polyethylene glycol (PEG400)+5-10%w/w silica nanoparticle suspensions (non-power-law fluids) on a mica surface. The theta(D)-U and R-t data for spreading drops of the six tested, non-power-law fluids can be described by power-law wetting models. We propose that this behavior is attributable to a uniform shear rate (a few tens to a few hundreds of s(-1)) distributed over the thin-film regime that controls spreading dynamics. Estimated film thickness was below the resolution of an optical microscope for direct observation. Approximating a general non-Newtonian fluid spreading as a power-law fluid greatly simplifies theoretical analysis and data interpretation.

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the impact of day- and night-time pad wetness on 2yrs-QoL after Radical Cystectomy (RC) with Orthotopic Neobladder (ON) from a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) aimed at comparing open RC (ORC) and Robot-Assisted RC (RARC) with intracorporeal (i) ON.
Methods: Between January 2018 and September 2020, 116 patients were enrolled. Data from self-assessed questionnaires (EORTC-QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BLM30) were collected.

Bacterial infections and chronic inflammation disrupt wound immune homeostasis and impair healing progression. Herein, we report a novel nanofibrous dressings that exhibits a synergistic antibacterial-anti-inflammatory effect through the integration of the physical barrier properties of electrospun nanofibers, the antimicrobial activity of biomacromolecule polylysine (PLys), and the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of natural macromolecule tannic acid (TA). Using poly(L-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (PLCL) as the base biomaterial, sequential surface modification with TA and PLys enhanced wettability and introduced a positive surface charge, yielding a dressing with exceptional cytocompatibility and potent antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.

This work presents the development and validation of a highly sulfur-selective nanomaterial based on silica doped with active metal phases for the desulfurization of heavy crude oils. Initially, various transition element oxide nanoparticles (FeO, NiO, ZnO, MoO, CuO, and AgO) were synthesized and screened for sulfur adsorption in batch mode. AgO and CuO exhibited the highest removal efficiencies─24% and 21%, respectively─at an adsorbent-to-crude oil ratio of 2:40 (g/g).

Under the action of hydration expansion of clay in the formation and liquid pressure, wellbore instability occurs. In order to reduce the wellbore instability caused by drilling fluid intrusion into the formation, this study proposed a method of forming a dynamic hydrogen bond cross-linked network weak gel structure with modified nano-silica and P(AM-AAC).

Background: Various medicaments have been utilized as an aid for wound healing following vital pulp treatment. Many of them are synthetic in origin and have disadvantages as limited amount of cytotoxicity and great expense. Hence, to tackle these drawbacks, naturally derived blended scaffolds have been employed in renovative dental field.
