Objective: This study evaluates the validity, inter-rater reliability, and stability over 3 months of a semi-structured telephone interview measuring adherence to stimulant treatment, the Stimulant Adherence Measure, against the Medication Event Monitoring System (MEMS).
Methods: Clinic-referred children (N=22, age 11.85 +/- 2.1 yrs) using psychostimulants for DSM-IV attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) were eligible. Families used a MEMS device for the primary stimulant medication. Children and parents participated in a semi-structured telephone interview, the Stimulant Adherence Measure, for 3 consecutive months. Parent reports for previous 7 days and 28 days and child report for previous 7 days of medication use were compared to MEMS report. Inter-rater reliability and interview order were also examined.
Results: Nineteen children and parents completed (86%). Agreement between MEMS and parent report for previous 7 days at months 1, 2 and 3 (ICC=0.829, p<0.001; ICC=0.663, p<0.05; ICC=0.878, p<0.001 respectively) and for 28 days at months 1, 2 and 3 (ICC=0.793, p<0.001; ICC=0.907, p< 0.001; ICC=0.806, p<0.001 respectively) was good to excellent. Agreement between MEMS and child report for 7 days at months 1, 2 and 3 (ICC=0.773, p<0.001, ICC=0.542, p<0.05, ICC=0.606, p<0.05 respectively) was good. Inter-rater reliability was excellent (ICC=0.956, p<0.001). There was no interview order effect for parents (F=1.771, p>0.05) or children (F=1.621, p>0.05).
Conclusion: The Stimulant Adherence Measure provides a valid and reliable method for determining stimulant medication use by children with ADHD.

Transportation at weaning is an integral component of the American swine industry. However, the long-term effects on growth performance have not been well characterized. Previous research suggests transportation causes weight loss immediately following weaning, but few studies have followed this effect further than 7 d post-weaning, with transport causing decreased body weight in those that have.

Introduction: Intussusception occurs when one segment of bowel invaginates into an adjacent segment of bowel from a lead point. Literature suggests a nonpathological lead point attributed to adult intussusception: marijuana. This report describes a unique presentation of intussusception in a patient with a history of previous surgical intervention and marijuana use.

Notoedric mange (also known as feline scabies) is a highly contagious and intensely pruritic dermatologic condition of cats caused by infestation with mites. Previous publications provide evidence that topical selamectin, and more recently, topical selamectin + sarolaner is efficacious in the treatment of notoedric mange in cats. The study reported here was conducted to confirm the efficacy of a topically applied combination of selamectin and sarolaner (Stronghold Plus) in the treatment of notoedric mange in cats naturally infested with Client-owned cats with clinical signs of notoedric mange and positive for live mites were enrolled and allocated randomly to treatment with either placebo ( = 10) or Stronghold Plus ( = 10).

Purpose: Herpes zoster poses severe complications in elderly immunocompromised patients, particularly those with altered drug metabolism and renal impairment, impacting quality of life.
Patients And Methods: To evaluate brivudine's efficacy and safety in such cases, we conducted a retrospective case series at Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital, analyzing four Chinese patients (aged 64-84 years) with complex herpes zoster, including systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetes nephropathy, multiple comorbidities, and trigeminal nerve involvement. Selected for their immunocompromised status and prior antiviral failure or renal concerns, patients received oral brivudine (125 mg once daily) with or without intravenous acyclovir, with outcomes assessed via clinical examination, pain scores, and laboratory monitoring over 7-14 days.

The indications for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) have broadened in clinical practice, and its use in circulatory failure caused by acute drug intoxication has become more frequent. We reviewed three cases of venoarterial (VA) ECMO use for intoxication at our hospital. Three cases (aged 60-69 years) developed refractory shock following intentional overdose, including calcium channel blockers.
