Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS)-driven membraneless organelles (MLOs) have been employed to enhance metabolic efficiency in various microbial cell factories. However, their application in the industrial bacterium has not been explored. Here, we report the formation of liquid protein condensates in using the RGG domain of LAF-1.

Melittin (MEL), a cationic amphipathic peptide derived from bee venom, exhibits dual roles in mitochondrial physiology, with both cytoprotective and cytotoxic outcomes. This review synthesizes current findings on MEL-induced modulation of mitochondrial pathways in normal and cancer cells. Beyond its well-documented roles in apoptosis regulation, MEL influences mitochondrial function by altering membrane potential, regulating respiratory chain activity, and impacting ATP production.

Pathological cardiac hypertrophy (CH) often progresses towards heart failure, which presents a serious threat to global public health security. Fortunately, peptides from animal venoms have emerged as potential drugs for the therapeutic care of cardiovascular diseases. This paper aims to investigate the therapeutic potentials and mechanism of bee venom (BV) using isoproterenol (ISO)-induced CH models in vivo and in vitro.

Granzyme B (GZMB) and melittin are potent cytotoxic agents with promising applications in cancer immunotherapy, particularly in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC). GZMB, secreted by cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells, induces apoptosis through caspase activation and mitochondrial disruption. Its expression in HNSC correlates with both improved prognosis and, paradoxically, immune suppression via regulatory T cells.

: Neuropilin-1 (NRP1) is a key co-receptor for SARS-CoV-2, complementing the ACE2 receptor. Several investigations have documented highly conserved sequences in this receptor, supporting the implication of NRP1 as a key mediator in SARS-CoV-2 cellular entry mechanisms. : To investigate this hypothesis, we examined 104,737 SARS-CoV-2 genome fastas from GISAID genomic data, corresponding to isolates collected between 2020 and 2025 in Mexico.
