Radiance fields represented by 3D Gaussians excel at synthesizing novel views, offering both high training efficiency and fast rendering. However, with sparse input views, the lack of multi-view consistency constraints results in poorly initialized Gaussians and unreliable heuristics for optimization, leading to suboptimal performance. Existing methods often incorporate depth priors from dense estimation networks but overlook the inherent multi-view consistency in input images.

Background: commonly colonizes the genitourinary tract and primarily affects immunocompromised individuals. It is mostly confined to localized infections, with bloodstream dissemination being rare. Because of its fastidious nutritional requirements, the organism is seldom recovered by routine blood culture, and the absence of a cell wall renders it intrinsically resistant to many first-line antimicrobials.

The neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs), more commonly known as Batten disease, are a group of fatal inherited neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorders. Each form is caused by mutations in a different gene, resulting in lysosomal dysfunction, which, by largely unknown mechanisms, has a devastating impact on the central nervous system. The NCLs are grouped together owing to their broadly shared clinical presentations and the presence of autofluorescent storage material.

Training of physical neural networks.

Nature

September 2025

Laboratory of Wave Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, Ècole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland.

Physical neural networks (PNNs) are a class of neural-like networks that make use of analogue physical systems to perform computations. Although at present confined to small-scale laboratory demonstrations, PNNs could one day transform how artificial intelligence (AI) calculations are performed. Could we train AI models many orders of magnitude larger than present ones? Could we perform model inference locally and privately on edge devices? Research over the past few years has shown that the answer to these questions is probably "yes, with enough research".

Lymph node metastasis in a patient with carcinoma rectal cancer: A case report.

Mol Clin Oncol

October 2025

Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine, Kangwon National University School of Medicine, Chuncheon, Gangwon 24289, Republic of Korea.

Colorectal cancer typically progresses from intramucosal carcinoma to invasive cancer, with lymph node metastasis considered possible only after submucosal invasion. Tumors confined to the mucosa are classified as carcinoma (Tis), based on the American Joint Committee on Cancer, and are generally not thought to be capable of metastasis. The present study reports a rare case of lymph node metastasis in a 70-year-old female with Tis rectal cancer, who presented to Kangwon National University School of Medicine in December 2018.
