We wished to determine the frequency and significance of cold bone defect on granulocytes labelled with technetium-99-m-hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime (99mTc-HMPAO-PMN) in non-spinal bone infection. Cold bone defect was investigated as part of a retrospective review during a 2-y period. Patients who had possible osteoarticular infection underwent bone scintigraphy combined with 99mTc-HMPAO-PMN for diagnosis and follow-up. Osteomyelitis was confirmed by isolation of the responsible pathogen. Among 210 patients who had possible infection, 17 (8%) demonstrated a cold bone defect. The site of cold bone defect was for all patients the hip. All 17 patients had proven bacterial orthopaedic hardware-related infection. The single causative micro-organism was staphylococcus. Whatever the outcome, cold bone defect was constant regardless of follow-up equal to or longer than 18 months. These data suggest that this uncommon scintigraphic pattern is an indication of an infectious process similar to increased uptake.

This study aimed to describe the cells of the seminiferous epithelium collected by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), reproductive tract observations, semen collection, and sperm cryopreservation from coatis (Nasua nasua). Seven adult coatis were anesthetized, the reproductive tract was examined, and semen was collected by electroejaculation and cryopreserved using an extender based on protocol for domestic dogs, except that prior to cryopreservation, no centrifugation to remove the seminal plasma was performed. Testicular FNAC was also performed on each testis.

Background: Glomus tumors, rare benign neoplasms developing from the glomus, often pose challenges in early detection due to their small size and subtle symptoms. Surgical removal remains the only primary treatment; however, existing approaches have limitations, particularly in preserving nail structure and minimizing recurrence rates. This study introduces the Microscopic Transungual Surgical Approach to overcome the drawbacks of existing procedures for glomus tumor excision and evaluate its efficacy in treating these tumors.

Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) have transitioned from conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents into structurally programmable combined imaging/treatment tools, leveraging their superparamagnetism, catalytic activity, and surface engineering versatility to achieve spatiotemporal control over drug delivery and immune modulation. Advances in nanofabrication now yield size-optimized aggregates with enhanced tumor accumulation through the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, while clinically approved formulations like ferumoxytol demonstrate intrinsic immunomodulatory functionality, positioning IONPs as pivotal tools for precision oncology. Conversely, cancer immunotherapy remains limited by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME), where cellular suppression via M2-polarized macrophages and regulatory T cells (Tregs) synergizes with physical exclusion from dense extracellular matrices and metabolic sabotage through lactate-driven acidosis.

: Third molar impaction with the consequent root resorption of second molars often creates complexities in treatment planning and execution. In the past, the root canal treatment (RCT) of second molars was required in these cases to avoid pulp necrosis and infection. The aim of this paper is to report a surgical/retrograde approach for the maintenance of pulp vitality, proposed as retrograde vital pulp treatment (rVPT), in cases of asymptomatic or reversibly affected teeth with root resorptions caused by impacted adjacent teeth.
