Biomass materials represent an ideal carbon source for synthesizing carbon dots (CDs) due to their abundance, elemental diversity, renewability, and low cost. This study presents a straightforward solvothermal method for synthesizing polychromatic carbon dots (MCDs) by systematically adjusting the reaction parameters using biomass-derived precursors (Perilla fruits leaves and tea polyphenols) under pH-modulated conditions (pH 2-13). The MCDs show tunable emission (395-646 nm), overcoming the traditional blue/green limitation of biomass-derived CDs.

The global surge of mpox virus (MPXV) demands diagnostic tools that combine laboratory-grade accuracy with point-of-care simplicity. Here, we report an all-in-one lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) leveraging precision-engineered FeO-Au heterodimers for dual-signal MPXV quantification via naked-eye readout and photothermal amplification. These monodisperse plasmonic-magnetic nanoparticles, synthesized through controlled seed-mediated heterodimerization, integrate magnetic enrichment, photothermal conversion, and tunable plasmonic resonance into a single architecture.

Fluorescent probes for in vivo hypochlorous acid (HClO) imaging often face challenges of low selectivity and high cytotoxicity, largely due to poor analyte recognition and water-insoluble aromatic skeletons. To address this, we synthesized fluorescein hydrazide by introducing a spiro-lactam unit into fluorescein, which offers high emission intensity and molar absorption. The five-membered heterocycle in fluorescein hydrazide is selectively disrupted by HClO, enhancing the conjugated system and electron delocalization of the fluorophore, resulting in highly sensitive fluorescence detection of HClO.

Objectives: To explore the mechanism by which Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein family verprolin-homologous protein 1 (WAVE1) regulates lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mitochondrial metabolic abnormalities and inflammatory responses in macrophages.

Methods: Macrophage cell lines with overexpressed WAVE1 (mouse BMDM and human THP1 cells) were prepared. The macrophages were treated with LPS (500 ng/mL) to simulate sepsis-induced inflammatory responses.
