Background: Anemia is a significant global health issue affecting approximately one-third of the world's population. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and chronic kidney disease are increasingly recognized as significant contributors to anemia, particularly in populations with high prevalence of these conditions.
Methods And Results: Globally, the prevalence of anemia caused by NCDs has increased significantly from 249.
Traditional Chinese villages embody the ecological wisdom of ancient people to "conform to nature and transform nature". In the long-term process of natural evolution, the natural environment and human production and living space have been combined to develop a unique spatial pattern with climate adaptability, which has the ability to cope with and regulate natural climate. Under the context of China's rural revitalization, a study into the microclimate and thermal comfort of traditional villages holds promise for fostering the development of ecologically sustainable and aesthetically pleasing rural communities.

Methods: We downloaded data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021(GBD 2021) to estimate the disease burden of T2DM caused by high BMI. Secondary analyses were performed by year, age, gender, region, and socio-demographic index (SDI).

The tail plays important roles in locomotion control in many animals. But in animals with multiple body segments, the roles of the hind body segments and corresponding innervating neurons in locomotion control are not clear. Here, using the Drosophila larva as the model animal, we investigated the roles of the posterior terminal segments in various modes of locomotion and found that they participate in all of them.

Soft crawling robots have been widely studied and applied because of their excellent environmental adaptability and flexible movement. However, most existing soft crawling robots typically exhibit a single-motion mode and lack diverse capabilities. Inspired by larvae, this paper proposes a compact soft crawling robot (weight, 13 g; length, 165 mm; diameter, 35 mm) with multimodal locomotion (forward, turning, rolling, and twisting).

Objective: Analyzing the association between sociodemographic status and the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)-related risks in China to reduce the disease burden of T2DM.
Methods: We downloaded data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 to estimate the disease burden of T2DM in China. Secondary analyses were performed by year, age, gender, summary exposure value (SEV), and sociodemographic index (SDI).

To uncover the relationship between neural activity and behavior, it is essential to reconstruct neural circuits. However, methods typically used for neuron reconstruction from volumetric electron microscopy (EM) dataset are often time-consuming and require extensive manual proofreading, making it difficult to reproduce in a typical laboratory setting. To address this challenge, we have developed a set of acceleration techniques that build upon the Flood Filling Network (FFN), significantly reducing the time required for this task.

Islet autoimmune syndrome (IAS) is an autoimmune disease caused by high concentrations of insulin autoantibodies (IAA) in the blood. It is characterized by hyperinsulinemia and spontaneous hypoglycemia. The incidence of IAS is low, and the hypoglycemia symptom is usually mild.

Methods: In January 2017, a cross sectional study, 66 male patients with T2DM who met the World Health Organization diagnostic criteria of 1999 who were ≥ 18.0 years and had normal thyroid function were recruited at a tertiary hospital.

Objective: To compare islet β-cell function in type 2 diabetic (T2DM) patients with different glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and diabetes durations.
Methods: We examined body parameters, biochemical profiles and islet autoantibodies in a total of 803 T2DM patients admitted in the Department of Endocrinology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between December, 2014 and April, 2016. The patients were stratified by HbA1c level and disease course and underwent steamed bun test to evaluate islet β-cell function and insulin resistance.
Aim: To explore effects of huoxiangzhengqi liquid (HXZQ) on enteric mucosal immune responses in mice with Bacillus dysenteriae and Salmonella typhimurium induced diarrhea (BSD).
Methods: BSD was induced in Balb/c mice by oral administration with Bacillus dysenteriae and Salmonella typhimurium. HXZQ was administrated from the day of diarrhea induction at dosages of 5.
