Fogging on glass poses a severe challenge in daily life, potentially even becoming life-threatening during driving and surgery; therefore there is a need for antifog surface structures. Fabricating superhydrophilic surfaces has been one of the major solutions to the challenge. Conventional direct thermal annealing glass in a furnace at 900 K for 2 h led to superhydrophicity but failed to produce superhydrophilicity on quartz.

This study develops novel superhydrophobic UHMWPE/PTFE/PVA composites via hot-pressing sintering to achieve ultra-low friction and enhanced wear resistance. The ternary system synergistically combines UHMWPE's mechanical stability, PTFE's lubricity, and PVA's dispersion/binding capability. Results show PTFE disrupts UHMWPE crystallization, reducing melting temperature by 2.

Freshwater scarcity is a pressing global issue, and water collection from fog offers a promising, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution. Inspired by the water collection mechanisms of desert beetles, spider webs, and cactus spines, we designed interconnecting superhydrophilic-superhydrophobic-region patterns for efficient water collection, which was achieved by low-energy fluorine-containing coating on Aluminum (Al) substrate followed by laser marker ablation to form superhydrophilic pattern out of the overall superhydrophobic surface. The pattern featured superhydrophilic interconnecting spider webs combined with triangular cactus spines on superhydrophobic surfaces with a water contact angle of 159.

In this investigation, the laser marker ablation technique was employed on Cu-coated glass to fabricate micro-nanostructured antifog glass. The resulting surfaces exhibited a quasi-periodic micron hillock-hollow structure with dispersed nanoparticles distributed throughout, which played a role in the antifog property and superhydrophilicity. However, airborne organic pollutant deposition degraded the superhydrophilicity of ablated glass surfaces and, therefore, their antifog performance, which cannot be circumvented.

The deficiency in available targeted agents and frequency of chemoresistance are primary challenges in clinical management of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The aberrant expression of USP21 and JAK2 represents a characterized mechanism of TNBC progression and resistance to paclitaxel (PTX). Despite its clear that high expression of USP21-mediated de-ubiquitination leads to increased levels of JAK2 protein, we lack regulator molecules to dissect the mechanisms that the interaction between USP21 and JAK2 contributes to the phenotype and resistance of TNBC.

This study presents a technique for processing transparent glass and resin substrates using a low-cost laser marker to create a micro-nano-structured surface with exceptional anti-fog properties. The approach involved depositing an aluminum (Al) film on the transparent substrates as an absorbing layer, followed by rapid laser marker ablation. This ablation process effectively removed the majority of the Al film, resulting in the formation of hierarchical hillock-hollow micro-structures and the dispersion of Al-based nano-particles throughout the surface.

In order to be prepared against potential balance-breaking risks affecting economic development, more and more countries have recognized emergency response solutions evaluation (ERSE) as an indispensable activity in their governance of sustainable development. Traditional multiple criteria group decision making (MCGDM) approaches to ERSE have been facing simultaneous challenging characteristics of decision hesitancy and prioritization relations among assessing criteria, due to the complexity in practical ERSE problems. Therefore, aiming at the special type of ERSE problems that hold the two characteristics, we investigate effective MCGDM approaches by hiring interval-valued dual hesitant fuzzy set (IVDHFS) to comprehensively depict decision hesitancy.
