In Situ Polymerized Hybrid Nanofiber Membranes Boost High-Voltage Stability of Solid-State Lithium Metal Batteries.

Solid-state lithium metal batteries, particularly those with solid polymer electrolytes, are regarded as promising solutions to achieve both higher energy density and safety. However, their development has been hampered by limited high-voltage tolerance. To overcome this challenge, we propose integrating a multifunctional hybrid nanofiber membrane with polymerization of vinylene carbonate to create a solid electrolyte with exceptional high-voltage stability and efficient room-temperature performance.

Background: Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is considered as a transient acute heart failure syndrome predominant in females. However, data on Chinese TTS patients are limited. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of Chinese TTS patients, identify prognostic markers.

[A study on the relationship between etiology and influencing factors of burning mouth syndrome].

Purpose: To analyze the etiology and related influencing factors of burning mouth syndrome (BMS).

Methods: A total of 109 patients with BMS who visited the Department of Stomatology of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University from November 2022 to October 2023 were selected, and 84 healthy volunteers who participated in the survey during the same period were selected as the control group. The basic information of the research subjects was recorded, and oral health status, periodontal health status and psychological status of the research subjects were evaluated.

The effect of flavan-3-ols on ovariectomy-induced bone loss in mice and the potential mechanisms.

Flavan-3-ols (FLOs) have been reported to confer various health benefits, the majority of which reaching the colon for fermentation by gut microbiota. This study sought to examine the effects of FLOs on bone health and to evaluate the influence of gut microbiota on these effects. Using an ovariectomy-induced bone loss model in mice, the animals were administered either a low or high dose of FLOs, or a combination of FLOs with an antibiotic cocktail (Abs+FLOs).

Bioactive polydopamine nanomedicines-assisted cancer immunotherapy.

Cancer immunotherapy, which activates the patient's immune system to combat tumors, has made significant progress in recent years. However, the immunosuppressive nature of the tumor microenvironment and the side effects associated with systemic administration limit its efficacy. Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study including 171 untreated patients histologically diagnosed with UADT-NKTL, of whom 71 patients received PET/CT combined with NN-MRI and the other 100 patients received PET/CT alone. The clinical stage of every patient was classified according to the Ann Arbor and TNM staging systems.

Porous Carbon Fabricated by Microbial Pretreatment of Brewer's Grain for the Improvement of Toluene Adsorption Performance.

Porous activated carbons (AC-AN and AC-AO) for toluene adsorption were prepared starting from brewer's grain biomass pretreated with microorganisms ( van Tieghem for AC-AN and RIB40 for AC-AO). The structures and chemical properties of the three activated carbon materials (AC-AN, AC-AO, and AC that was not pretreated with microorganisms) were characterized by N adsorption-desorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The adsorption behavior of the three activated carbons for toluene was studied and correlated with the physical and chemical properties of these materials.

In this study, the deposition behaviors of carboxyl-modified polystyrene nanoparticles (COOH-PSNPs) with magnetite were systematically investigated.

Research progress on the potential correlation between polycystic ovary syndrome and periodontal disease.

Over the past few years, the correlation between periodontal disease (PD) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has attracted widespread attention owing to the increased incidence of these diseases. Several studies have suggested a possible link between the two. In this narrative review, we examined the epidemiology, common risk factors, and pathological mechanisms of PCOS and PD to investigate the potential association between these diseases.

Background And Purpose: Metastasis of non-metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NMNSCLC) to contralateral hilar lymph nodes (CHLN) eliminates the opportunity for radical therapy. This study aims to analyze whether CHLN metastasis in NMNSCLC is commonly overestimated in clinical practice and to establish a predictive model for enhanced precision.

Objective: Sub-optimal care of people living with dementia has serious consequences for older populations. The 2021 Australian Royal Commission noted that a large proportion of older adults in aged care live with dementia, yet there are limitations in the knowledge and understanding of staff who care for them. In the pursuit of educating pharmacists, physicians, allied health care professionals, researchers, academics, people living with dementia and their carers, and the public, who are facing the challenges of dementia management, the 'Best Practice in Dementia Health Care' conference was held on November 10, 2022 at Western Health (Sunshine Hospital, Melbourne, Australia).

Adsorption of metals on aged microplastics in intensive mariculture areas: Aggravating the potential ecological risks to marine organisms.

Field determination of the metal adsorption capacity of microplastics (MPs) by using a passive sampler had been done in typical subtropical mariculture area in China. The adsorption of eight metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, As, Pb, Cr and Cd) by five types of MPs (low-density polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) was compared, including metal types, mariculture types (cage and longline culture), metal residue content in ambient environment, polymer types and particle sizes of MPs. The results showed that Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Pb and Cr in the mariculture environment were contaminated compared with the quality criteria.

Significance of metastatic lymph nodes ratio in overall survival for patients with resected nonsmall cell lung cancer: a retrospective cohort study.

Objective: The tumor, node and metastasis stage is widely applied to classify lung cancer and is the foundation of clinical decisions. However, increasing studies have pointed out that this staging system is not precise enough for the N status. National surveillance using a clinical quality indicator for prolonged antipsychotic use among older Australians with dementia who access aged care services.

Objectives: Dementia guidelines recommend antipsychotics are only used for behavioral and psychological symptoms when non-drug interventions fail, and to regularly review use. Population-level clinical quality indicators (CQIs) for dementia care in permanent residential aged care (PRAC) typically monitor prevalence of antipsychotic use but not prolonged use. This study aimed to develop a CQI for antipsychotic use >90 days and examine trends, associated factors, and variation in CQI incidence; and examine duration of the first episode of use among individuals with dementia accessing home care packages (HCPs) or PRAC.

Digital measurement of deciduous tooth dimensions in China: A cross-sectional survey.

Objective: Crown dimensions data of deciduous teeth hold anthropological, forensic, and archaeological value. However, such information remains scarce for the Chinese population. This multi-center study aimed to collect a large sample of deciduous crown data from Chinese children using three-dimensional measurement methods and to analyze their dimensions.

Mental health outcomes of family carers after admission to aged care: A cross-sectional survey study.

Objectives: This study investigated the predictors of poor mental health outcomes among family carers of residents after transitioning into residential aged care.

Methods: Using a cross-sectional design, five groups of variables were evaluated as predictors: caregiver demographics; caregiving load; resident-related variables; loneliness and visiting frequency; and the impact of the COVID-19 context. A total of 309 primary family contacts of all residents of two residential aged care organisations in the state of Victoria (Australia) participated in the study (response rate 19%).
