The increasing abuse of stimulants such as methamphetamine (MA) and 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA), along with the dissociative anesthetic ketamine (KET), poses a significant challenge in forensic toxicology in South Korea. To improve forensic toxicology analysis of polydrug use, a rapid and reliable method was developed for the simultaneous detection of MA, MDMA, KET, and their metabolites in urine using headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). The method was optimized to enhance extraction efficiency while minimizing carry-over.

This study demonstrates a novel circular approach for discarded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) textiles with life cycle assessment (LCA) validation, proposing an optimized recycling method for PET depolymerization byproducts. The experimental approach emphasizes sourcing the metal-organic framework ingredients including metal and linker components from a single PET depolymerization reaction. For depolymerization, a metal salt-based deep eutectic solvent (DES) composed of -toluene sulfonic acid and iron(iii) chloride hexahydrate was employed acting as both solvent and catalyst.

Stretchable devices, garnering increasing attention as next-generation form factors, have a crucial problem in that vertical contraction occurs during stretching, causing image distortion of stretchable displays and discomfort in skin-attached devices. Previous structural strategies to mitigate vertical contraction, such as auxetic reentrants and wrinkles, suffer from the drawback that their structure becomes visible during stretching. Desvenlafaxine (O-desmethylvenlafaxine) and paroxetine are antidepressants that inhibit serotonin reuptake. Despite their relatively safe profiles, several serious side effects, including serotonin syndrome, bleeding, mania, and high blood pressure, are observed. We report the confirmation of the death of a 41-year-old female, with an overdose of desvenlafaxine and paroxetine suspected as the main cause of death.

Background: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells are approved for use in the treatment of hematological malignancies. Axicabtagene ciloleucel (YESCARTA) and brexucabtagene autoleucel (TECARTUS) genetically modified autologous T cells expressing an anti-CD19 scFv based on the FMC63 clone have shown impressive response rates for the treatment of CD19+B cell malignancies, but there remain challenges in monitoring long-term persistence as well as the functional characterization of low-level persisting CAR-T cells in patients. Furthermore, due to CD19-negative driven relapse, having the capability to monitor patients with simultaneous detection of the B cell malignancy and persisting CAR-T cells in patient peripheral blood is important for ensuring timely treatment optionality and understanding relapse.

Skin-attachable sensors, which represent the ultimate form of wearable electronic devices that ensure conformal contact with skin, suffer from motion artifact limitations owing to relative changes in position between the sensor and skin during physical activities. In this study, a polarization-selective structure of a skin-conformable photoplethysmographic (PPG) sensor was developed to decrease the amount of scattered light from the epidermis, which is the main cause of motion artifacts.
