Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract that significantly impacts patient health and quality of life. (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a potent plant polyphenol from green tea, exhibits superior anti-inflammatory and antioxidative properties; however, its therapeutic potential is hindered by poor stability and bioavailability. Inspired by the tea plant (), we developed EGCG-loaded tea supraparticles (TSPs) as an oral dietary supplement, utilizing tea proteins, an eco-friendly byproduct with inherent antioxidative potential, to deliver EGCG.

The expansion of road networks in recent decades has drawn considerable attention due to its impact on biodiversity in high-altitude ecosystems. Here, we conducted a comprehensive field survey to investigate the effects of road disturbance on plant diversity in alpine grasslands on the Tibetan Plateau. Our results indicate that road disturbance caused no significant changes in species richness, Shannon-Wiener's diversity, or Simpson's diversity, and the alteration in species composition was limited.

Mechanotransduction within the specialized cochlea hair cells is fundamental to perceiving sound waves. This intricate mechanism converts mechanical vibrations into electrical signals that the brain can interpret as sound. The molecular identity of the mechanoelectrical transducer continues to be a subject of intense debate.

An increase in blood osmolality is thought to induce thirst by activating a hyperosmolar sensor expressed in the subfornical organ (SFO), but the molecular identity of this sensor remains elusive. Here, we provide behavioral and functional evidence to show that TMEM63B functions as a mammalian hyperosmolar sensor for thirst in SFO neurons.

Cell surface functionalization has emerged as a powerful strategy for modulating cellular behavior and expanding cellular capabilities beyond their intrinsic biological limits. Natural phenolic molecules present as 'green' and versatile building blocks for constructing cell-based biomanufacturing and biotherapeutic platforms. Due to the abundant catechol or galloyl groups, phenolic molecules can dynamically and reversibly bind to versatile substrates multiple molecular interactions.

Herein, the role of forkhead box P transcription factor 1 (FOXP1) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 in regulating EC senescence during AS progression was investigated. The mRNA and protein expressions were assessed using qRT-PCR and western blot.

However, EP is limited by its solubility and moderate potency in antitumor studies. In the present study, a series of novel ergosterol peroxide-3-thiazolidinedione derivatives were designed and synthesized, by changing the linker between ergosterol peroxide and thiazolidinedione, it is expected to obtain compounds with better antitumor activity.

Human adenoviruses (HAdVs) are highly contagious pathogens with various genotypes implicated in acute respiratory disease (ARD) and linked to fatality, especially in immunosuppressed patients, young children, and military recruits. Currently, no vaccines or specific drugs are approved for clinical use. The hosts of adenoviruses are strictly species-specific, which strongly limits the development of vaccines and drugs against HAdVs.

Obesity is a critical risk factor for the development of metabolic diseases and is often associated with dysfunctional adipocytes. Prevalent treatments such as lifestyle intervention, pharmacotherapy, and bariatric surgery are often accompanied by adverse side effects and poor patient compliance. Nanotechnology and cell-based therapy offer innovative approaches for targeted obesity treatments, as they can directly target adipocytes, regulate lipid metabolism, and minimize off-target effects.

Lupeol is a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid with a wide range of biological activities. To improve the water solubility and targeting of lupeol, in the following study, we synthesized 27 lupeol derivatives in the first series by introducing lipophilic cations with lupeol as the lead compound. Through the screening of different cancer cells, we found that some of the derivatives showed better activity than cisplatin against human non-small cell lung cancer A549 cells, among which compound 6c was found to have an IC value of 1.

The new compounds were screened to determine their anti-proliferative activity against human lung cancer cell line A549, human liver cancer cell line HepG2, and human breast cancer cell line MCF-7. Most of the compounds were found to show better anti-proliferative activity in vitro than lupeol.

This study investigated the effects of ergosterol peroxide(EP) on the proliferation and apoptosis of MCF-7 breast cancer cells, explored its possible mechanisms of action, and verified the effects and mechanisms by in vitro experiments. Network pharmaco-logy was used to screen the target proteins of EP and construct target networks and protein-protein interaction(PPI) networks to predict the potential target proteins and related pathways involved in EP anti-breast cancer effects. The MTT assay was performed to measure the inhibitory effect of EP on MCF-7 cell proliferation, and the colony formation assay was used to assess the cell cloning ability.

Back-contact architectures offer a promising route to improve the record efficiencies of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by eliminating parasitic light absorption. However, the performance of back-contact PSCs is limited by inadequate carrier diffusion in perovskite. Here, we report that perovskite films with a preferred out-of-plane orientation show improved carrier dynamic properties.
