Background: Pediatric lithotomy positioning requires adaptable solutions due to wide variations in patient size. We evaluated a novel adjustable leg support system combined with the TRIMANO arm for safety and efficiency.
Methods: 59 pediatric patients (age: 5 months-14 years) were positioned using the system.
Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative and inflammatory joint disease caused by multiple factors, the underlying mechanisms of which are not fully understood. The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) are both novel biomarkers and predictors of inflammation. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the relationship between SII, SIRI and OA in adult.

These proteins share a common structural feature, including signature N-terminal PYD domain and C-terminal HIN-200 domain, which enable them to recognize intracellular nucleic acids and assemble inflammasomes, triggering inflammatory responses and programmed cell death. Over the last decade, it has emerged that the PYHIN family proteins play multifaceted roles in cancer biology, with dualistic roles due to tumor heterogeneity and the tumor microenvironment's plasticity through dependent or independent of inflammasome mechanisms.

While single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of immune checkpoint genes have been extensively investigated in AML, the association between LILRB4 genetic polymorphisms and clinical outcomes remains unexplored. We investigated SNPs within the LILRB4 immunoglobulin domain and immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif regions in 151 AML patients and 203 controls.

Background: SERPINB5, also known as Maspin, is a non-inhibitory member of the serine protease inhibitor superfamily. SERPINB5 exerts diverse effects on a variety of human cancers, including cell proliferation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor invasion, and metastasis. SERPINB5 has traditionally been regarded as a tumor suppressor gene, but emerging evidences supports its oncogenic properties.

As a structural and catalytic cofactor, copper is involved in many biological pathways and is required for the biochemistry of all living organisms. However, excess intracellular copper can induce cell death due to its potential to catalyze the generation of reactive oxygen species, thus copper homeostasis is strictly regulated. And the deficiency or accumulation of intracellular copper is connected with various pathological conditions.

Background: Empirical treatment needs to be supported by regional data, but knowledge of interregional differences is currently lacking in China. This study aimed to summarize and map the primary and secondary antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori in different regions of mainland China.
Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang databases were systematically reviewed for studies published between 1 January 2000 and 15 July 2023.
Background: Patient education contributes to improve public awareness of Helicobacter pylori. Large language models (LLMs) offer opportunities to revolutionize patient education transformatively. This study aimed to assess the quality of patient educational materials (PEMs) generated by LLMs and compared with physician sourced.

We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of tetracycline administered three times daily versus four times daily in bismuth-containing quadruple therapy for first-line treatment of H.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The optimal dosage of tetracycline remains unclear for Helicobacter pylori eradication. Frequent dosing requirements may decrease patient adherence and increase the incidence of adverse events, potentially reducing treatment efficacy. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of different tetracycline dosages in rescue treatment for H.

The immune landscape of bladder cancer progression is not fully understood, and effective therapies are lacking in advanced bladder cancer. Here, we visualized that bladder cancer cells recruited neutrophils by secreting interleukin-8 (IL-8); in turn, neutrophils played dual functions in bladder cancer, including hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) release and CCL3PD-L1 super-immunosuppressive subset formation. Mechanistically, c-Fos was identified as the mediator of HGF up-regulating IL-8 transcription in bladder cancer cells, which was central to the positive feedback of neutrophil recruitment.

This study aimed to investigate the role of SERPINB5 in colorectal cancer (CRC). We established knockdown and overexpression models of SERPINB5 in CRC cells and conducted bioinformatics analysis to assess the clinicopathological significance of SERPINB5 expression in CRC patients. Human CRC cells were transfected with LV-SERPINB5 and sh-SERPINB5 lentivirus for subsequent functional and mechanistic studies.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is an intestinal disease with complicated pathological mechanisms. The incidence of IBD has been increasing in recent years, which has a significant negative impact on the lives of patients. Therefore, it is particularly important to find new therapeutic targets and innovative drugs for the development of IBD.
