Background: Data on the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) during Ramadan fasting is limited. No meta-analysis has summarized the safety and effectiveness of GLP-1RAs in these situations.
Aim: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of GLP-1RA in patients with T2DM fasting during Ramadan.
Insulin icodec (icodec) is a first-in-class once-weekly basal insulin approved for the treatment of adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). Healthcare professionals (HCPs) may benefit from clear and practical guidance on translating the use of icodec from a controlled clinical trial setting into real-world clinical practice to ensure its appropriate implementation. Here, we primarily review the available evidence for icodec in T2D to provide evidence-based clinical recommendations and expert opinions to guide the use of icodec in a clinical setting.

This expert consensus document presents evidence-based recommendations for streamlined glycemic care focused on enhancing treatment adherence, minimizing pill burden, and improving clinical outcomes. An expert panel of endocrinologists and diabetologists convened across eight advisory board meetings to review current evidence and generate practical strategies.

Concomitant with the evolving guidelines, there is a need to direct and spread awareness among practicing diabetologists to identify and screen high-risk individuals for MASLD for timely management. Its asymptomatic nature and the evolving guidelines on diagnosis have hindered the precise estimates of MASLD in the high-risk group of individuals in a clinical setting.

Methods: This was a real-world, prospective, multicentric, cross-sectional observational study. Male and female participants aged ≥ 18 years with a clinical diagnosis of T2D were eligible to take part.
Objective: This post hoc analysis evaluated the impact of age, ethnicity, and race on efficacy and hypoglycemia outcomes with once-weekly insulin icodec (icodec) versus once-daily (OD) basal insulin comparators, leveraging data from the ONWARDS 1-5 phase 3a clinical trials.
Methods: Efficacy and hypoglycemia outcomes were assessed within each trial in insulin-naive (ONWARDS 1, 3, and 5) and insulin-experienced (ONWARDS 2 and 4) adults (≥18 years) with type 2 diabetes across subgroups of age (<55, 55-64, and ≥65 years), ethnicity (Hispanic/Latino and non-Hispanic/Latino), and race (Asian, Black/African American, White, Other). The primary outcome was the change in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) from baseline to planned end of treatment.
Introduction: Imeglimin is a novel oral antidiabetic drug that was approved for use in India in October 2022. Thus far, no large-scale studies on the effectiveness and safety of imeglimin for the treatment of type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) have been conducted in the Indian population. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of imeglimin in Indian patients with T2DM in a real-world setting.

Introduction: A slower adoption rate of fixed dose combinations (FDC) in diabetes management is partly due to insufficient data. This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of an FDC of dapagliflozin + sitagliptin + metformin hydrochloride extended release (XR), compared to a dual FDC of sitagliptin + metformin hydrochloride XR among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with poor glycemic control when treated with metformin monotherapy.
Methods: A total of 274 patients with T2DM were randomized (1:1) to either arm X, receiving FDC of dapagliflozin (10 mg) + sitagliptin (100 mg) + metformin hydrochloride XR (1000 mg) (Dapa + Sita + Met) tablets, or arm Y, receiving sitagliptin phosphate (100 mg) + metformin hydrochloride XR (1000 mg) (Sita + Met) tablets, and treated for 16 weeks.

Dry eye disease (DED) is an inadequately addressed condition in the diabetes management process and can significantly impact the quality of life and self-care. Therefore, it was imperative to review DED in the diabetic population. The aim of this article was to obtain insights into the correlation between dry eye and diabetes, with a focus on data published in the Indian population.

Methods: Our study included multinational Muslims with T2DM who were during routine consultation.
This article offers a systematic literature review (SLR) on the use of the MiniMed 780G automated insulin delivery system (MM780G) in people with type 1 diabetes (PwT1D) during Ramadan intermittent fasting. It also presents consensus recommendations on the use of MM780G during the Ramadan period. The SLR was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses methodology.

Despite advancements in diabetes therapy, a significant number of patients in India still experience poor glycemic control and complications. Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors continue to be an important component of T2DM treatment due to their favorable efficacy and tolerability profile.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFManagement of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) largely relies on medication adherence of individuals with diabetes to achieve optimal glycemic control. The economic burden of diabetes could impede adherence, leading to a reduction in treatment efficacy and increased risk of complications. Furthermore, monotherapy in diabetes is losing traction due to its ineffectiveness in achieving early and sustained optimal glycemic control in a significant proportion of the population.

This systematic review was undertaken by the authors because there is no evidence currently available in India that has studied the suitability of SGLT2i as a first-line agent in patients newly diagnosed with T2D in India.
Materials And Methods: First, literature was searched to identify features that are considered important when deciding on a first-line agent for managing T2D.

Prandial insulins are designed to replicate the natural insulin release after meals and are highly effective in managing post-meal glucose spikes. Currently, different types of prandial insulins are available such as human regular insulin, rapid-acting analogs, ultra-rapid-acting analogs, and inhaled insulins.
