Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with significant neurological complications, yet the mechanisms underlying brain injury remain unclear. This study investigated the role of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) in exacerbating CPB-induced neuronal apoptosis and identified vulnerable brain regions. Utilizing a rat CPB model and an oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) cellular model, we demonstrated that IL-17A levels were markedly elevated in the hippocampus post-CPB, correlating with endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS)-mediated apoptosis.

Understanding the quantitative interactions among zeolite pore walls, Bro̷nsted acid sites, and molecules with both polar and nonpolar regions is essential for scoping out the potential of zeolites as sorbents and catalysts. Purely siliceous zeolites ( and in the present study) are hydrophobic, whereas those containing aluminum are considered hydrophilic, preferentially adsorbing organic molecules even in aqueous environments. To characterize these interactions, we use primary alcohols of increasing molecular weight, quantifying their specific interactions in the confined pore space of the alkyl (CH) and OH groups.

This study investigates microplastics(MPs) in the water layer, viscous sublayer and sediment layer of Baiyangdian(BYD), while also exploring their spatio-temporal and vertical distribution characteristics, as well as associated ecological risks. The results indicate that microplastic abundance in the living area of BYD was the highest during both wet and dry periods. with differing sources being the primary factors influencing the distribution of MPs.

Here, we compared fast-type longissimus dorsi muscle and slow-type psoas major muscle from cattle using transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic analyses.
