Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) is a plasma cell malignancy that remains incurable due to inevitable relapse and poor treatment tolerance. Compound Kushen Injection (CKI), a traditional Chinese medicinal formulation, has been reported to exert anti-tumor effects in various cancers, but its efficacy and mechanisms in MM remain unclear.

Purpose: This study aimed to elucidate the anti-MM mechanisms of CKI, focusing on its induction of DNA damage response (DDR) and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and to assess synergy with proteasome inhibitors (PIs).

A high power, narrow bandwidth, synchronously pumped PPLN optical parametric oscillator is demonstrated. By using a reflective volume bragg grating (RVBG), the signal laser wavelength is locked at 1908.1 nm while the bandwidth is compressed to 0.

Growing evidence underscores the pivotal impact of crosstalk between leukemic stem cells (LSCs) and mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) within their niche on leukemia initiation, progression, and therapy response. Although MMP14 plays an important role in inflammation and cancer, the regulation and role of MSC-derived MMP14 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) are largely unknown. Here, we found that AML patient-derived MSCs (AML-MSCs) were more supportive of AML cell growth compared to healthy donor-derived MSCs (HD-MSCs).

Background: Hyperleukocytic acute myeloid leukemia (HL-AML) is associated with early complications and high mortality rates, highlighting the urgent need for more effective therapeutic strategies.

Methods: This study conducted label-free proteomic analysis on serum from HL-AML and non-HL AML (NHL-AML) patients, integrating the data with the OHSU transcriptomic database. Flow cytometry was used to evaluate the in vitro impact of bortezomib.

The goal of the next-generation COVID-19 vaccine is to provide rapid respiratory tract protection with a single dose. Circulating antibodies do not protect the olfactory mucosa from viral infection, necessitating localized mucosal immunization. Live attenuated vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-based COVID-19 vaccines effectively stimulate mucosal immunity in animals, though safety concerns remain, particularly in immunocompromised populations.

Respiratory failure, intracranial hemorrhage and infection were more common in hyperleukocytic acute myeloid leukemia patients than in non-hyperleukocytic leukemia patients. Compared with non-apheresis treatment, the white blood cells decreased significantly and the infection rate decreased after apheresis treatment. However, the treatment time of leukapheresis in patients with hyperleukocytic leukemia is very long, while it is more damaging to cells.

Background: With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing, various treatments have become widely practiced. Stem cells have a wide range of applications in the treatment of lung diseases and have therefore been experimentally used to treat patients with COVID-19, but whether the expanded use of stem cells is safe and reliable still lacks enough evidence. To address this issue, we systematically reviewed the safety and efficiency of stem cell therapy in COVID-19 cases.
