Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most serious public health problems all over the world. Development of local consensus on management of T2DM, providing clinicians, researchers, and policymakers with updated and valid evidence in consideration of practical issues, is crucial. Therefore, we aimed to develop a consensus report on management of T2DM in Iran.

This study investigated the association between three TP53 genetic variants (rs1625895, rs1042522, and rs17878362) and their haplotypes with Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) parameters and nutritional status in elderly Iranian individuals.
Methods And Results: The TP53 rs1625895 variant showed a significant association with nutritional status (P = 0.
Background: Dietary intake, as one of the critical lifestyle risk factors, plays a crucial role in the risk of sarcopenia, potentially due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The objective of this study was to evaluate the association between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) and the Dietary Inflammatory Score (DIS) with sarcopenia in an Iranian population.
Methods: In the present study, 80 participants with sarcopenia were included in the case group, and 80 non-sarcopenia participants were included in the control group, matched by gender.
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a widely distributed endocrine disorder in the world. Altered reproductive function is a notable long-term consequence of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). In the current study, we assessed the effects of soya milk containing Lactobacillus casei and omega-3 on stereology of testes in type 1 diabetic rats.

Background: Ultrasound examination of the thyroid has emerged as a useful diagnostic and prognostic tool, along with measuring serum titers of anti-thyroid peroxidase (TPO), anti-thyroglobulin (Tg), and thyroid hormones, in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. So, we aimed at considering correlations of ultrasonographic, antibodies, and thyroid hormone levels.
Materials And Methods: A total of 149 patients (118 females, 31 males; aged 18-60 years; mean age: 38.
Osteoporosis is a common disorder with a strong genetic component. Bone mineral density (BMD), vitamin D, and calcium levels declining are a main contributor of osteoporosis and fragility fractures. This cross-sectional study designed to explore the possible link between CYP2R1 rs10741657 polymorphism and BMD of the total hip, lumbar spine and femoral neck, vitamin D, and calcium in Iranian children and adolescents.

The intervention thresholds ranged from 0.6 (Saudi Arabia) to 36.

No study has investigated the association between healthy beverage index (HBI) and sarcopenia in older adults. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the association between HBI and sarcopenia in Iranian older adults.

The oxidative balance score (OBS) represents the oxidative balance of a person's dietary pattern using the merged intake of anti-oxidants and pro-oxidants. Therefore, the present study assessed the association between OBS and sarcopenia in Iranian older adults.

The increasing prevalence of metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance are driven by complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors. One of the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the VDR gene associated with vitamin D levels is the rs1544410 SNP. This study examined the association of the rs1544410 polymorphism with insulin resistance to predict and screen for possible association with type 2 diabetes and target these individuals for appropriate treatment.

Background: In renal transplant patients, bisphosphonates may prevent bone loss, but little is known about their effects on bone microarchitecture and geometrical hip parameters, as the key factors of bone stability. This study aimed to analyze the effect of zoledronic acid on the mentioned parameters in kidney transplant patients.
Methods: In this double-blind, randomized trial, 33 patients were followed for six months after administering either 4mg of zoledronic acid or a placebo.

Unlabelled: This study aimed to evaluate bone mineral density (BMD), trabecular microarchitecture, and proximal hip geometry in diabetic postmenopausal women, where BMD alone cannot reflect bone strength adequately. We found significantly lower trabecular bone score and BMD at the distal radius and total forearm in diabetic subjects compared to controls.
Purpose: The limitations resulting from the exclusive assessment of bone mineral density (BMD) in people with diabetes can lead to underestimation of microarchitectural and geometric changes, both of which play an essential role in the fracture risk.
Background: Myelolipoma is a benign neoplasm of the adrenal cortex, composed of fat and hematopoietic cells. Although myelolipoma is benign, differentiation from adrenocortical cancer may be difficult. The presence of adrenal and extra-adrenal myelolipomas simultaneously is sporadic, making it a challenging case, especially when the preoperative diagnosis is ambiguous.

Identification of children with dyslipidemia is notably essential for healthcare providers in establishing and releasing recommendations for the management and prevention of future CVD. In the present study, we provided reference values for the lipid profile from Kawar (a city in the south of Iran) cohort of healthy children and adolescents aged 9-18 years.

The aim of this study was to validate the SarQoL questionnaire for evaluation of sarcopenia-related quality of life in Iranian community-dwelling older adults.
Methods: Validity (discriminative power, construct validity), reliability (internal consistency, test-retest reliability), and floor/ceiling effects of SarQoL questionnaire were evaluated in the current study.
The aim of this study was to develop a valid and reliable elder self-neglect scale (ESNS) for field research on Iranian community-dwelling older adults. This mixed-method exploratory study was conducted in three stages: (1) item generation using literature review, (2) item reduction by expert panels, and (3) assessing the psychometric properties. In the third stage, the face, content, and construct validity (exploratory factor analysis) were performed on the first sample (n = 450), and the final 26-item scale was developed.

Background: Osteoporosis, a skeletal disease described by impaired bone strength, cause an increased risk of fractures. We aimed in this study to clarify which particular wise combination of probiotics has the most beneficial effect in the rat model of osteoporosis.
Methods: Sixty-three mature female Sprague Dawley rats (12-14 weeks old, weight 200 ± 20 g) were ovariectomized and then divided into nine random groups, each group consisting of 7 rats.
Background: Adolescents' body composition is considered an important measure to evaluate health status. An examination of any of the segmental compartments by anthropometric indices is a more usable method than direct methods.
Objectives: To propose a method based on the network approach for predicting segmental body composition components in adolescent boys and girls using anthropometric measurements.
Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy. Thyroidectomy and radiotherapy are common treatment modalities for patients with undifferentiated TC (UTC), and sorafenib is usually recommended to prevent a recurrence. However, malignant cells may evade chemotherapy-induced apoptosis, and combination therapy was developed to achieve better outcomes.

In this study, we explored the association of TP53 exon 4 Arg72pro (rs1042522) and Intron 3 16-bp Del/Ins (rs17878362) polymorphisms and their haplotypes with sarcopenia, anthropometric, body composition and biochemical parameters.
Methods: A total of 254 older individuals (65 sarcopenic and 189 healthy) were recruited in this research and genotyped by PCR-RFLP.
Objective: Male infertility secondary to exposure to gonadotoxic agents during reproductive age is a concerning issue. The aim of this experimental study was to determine the effect of Loboob on sperm parameters.
Methods: 55 healthy rats were selected, weighted and divided into five groups consisting of 11 rats each.

Purpose: Diabetes has several adverse effects on patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, the determinants of this effect are still poorly understood. It is tried in current study to evaluate impacts of type 2 diabetes, with and without other comorbidities, on the clinical, para-clinical, and outcome parameters among COVID-19 patients.
Methods: A case series was applied, which involved 406 COVID-19 patients admitted in the city of Shiraz, south-central Iran, from February 20 to April 29, 2020.
