Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) represents a significant clinical challenge, leading to severe motor and sensory dysfunction, as well as irreversible tissue atrophy. Autograft has been commonly utilized as the clinical gold standard; however, it is limited by donor availability and secondary surgery requirements. Here, an ultrasound-responsive, highly aligned piezoelectric nanofiber nerve guidance conduit (APNF-NGC) is introduced for peripheral nerve regeneration.

With tris(dimethylamino)cyclopentadienyl metal (CpX(NMe)) precursors, the optimum process temperature of atomic layer deposition (ALD) is higher for HfO films (∼350 °C) than ZrO films (∼320 °C). Since simultaneous ALD of the two films is required in HfZrO film processes, the optimum ALD temperatures of the two films need to be adjusted equally. The cyclopentadienyl Zr precursor (MCPZr) introduced in this study exhibits better thermal stability than that of CpZr(NMe).

Grayscale digital light processing (g-DLP) is gaining recognition for its capability to create material property gradients within a single resin system, enabling programmable mechanical responses, enhanced shape accuracy, and improved toughness. However, research on the mechanical robustness of g-DLP is constrained by the limited range of tailorable properties in photocurable resins and insufficient exploration of structural optimization for complex geometries. This study presents a synergistic g-DLP strategy that integrates the synthesis of dynamic bond-controlled polyurethane acrylate (PUA) with a machine learning-based multi-objective optimization, enabling mechanically robust 3D-printed gradient materials.

In polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), substantial efforts have been made to focus on Pt and Pt alloy catalysts to enhance their catalytic performance. However, these catalysts still fail to meet practical requirements and existing PtCo catalysts face durability issues due to structural limitations. In this study, carbon-supported hybrid PtCo alloy catalysts (H-PtCo) with improved activity and durability are synthesized by reducing Co precursors onto pre-formed colloidal Pt nanoparticles.

There are two main challenges in AS-ALD: (1) achieving high selectivity of deposition on the growth regions, and (2) preventing mushrooming of the growth material onto the nongrowth regions and achieving well-defined interfaces. In this work, we use benzenethiol (BT) as an inhibitor in the selective deposition of ZnO on SiO in the presence of copper with and without a native oxide (Cu/CuO).

Electrospinning-derived piezoelectric polymer P(VDF-TrFE) fibers represent promising materials for piezoelectric self-powered sensors in wearable and biomedical applications, attributed to their lightweight nature, flexibility, and superior piezoelectric properties. However, integrating effective electrodes with P(VDF-TrFE) fibers remains challenging. Metal electrodes often fail to maintain stable contact on complex fiber surfaces, while conductive polymer electrodes face limitations in conductivity and chemical compatibility with P(VDF-TrFE).

Digital light processing (DLP) is a projection-based vat photopolymerization 3D printing technique that attracts increasing attention due to its high resolution and accuracy. The projection-based layer-by-layer deposition in DLP uses precise light control to cure photopolymer resin quickly, providing a smooth surface finish due to the uniform layer curing process. Additionally, the extensive material selection in DLP 3D printing, notably including existing photopolymerizable materials, presents a significant advantage compared with other 3D printing techniques with limited material choices.

Methods: Patients with advanced LMS received avelumab 10 mg/kg on days 1 and 15 (for up to 24 months) plus gemcitabine 1000 mg/m on days 1, 8, and 15 of a 28-day cycle until they developed disease progression or intolerable toxicity. The primary end point was the objective response rate (ORR).
Background Context: Numerous prognostic models are utilized for surgical decision and prognostication in metastatic spine tumors. However, these models often fail to consider the whole-body tumor burden into account, which may be crucial for the prognosis of metastatic cancers. A potential surrogate marker for tumor burden, whole-body metabolic tumor burden (wMTB), can be calculated from total lesion glycolysis (TLG) obtained from F-Fludeoxyglucose positive emission tomography (F-FDG PET) images.

In this study, we achieved energy localization and amplification of flexural vibrations by utilizing the defect mode of plate-attachable locally resonant metamaterials, thereby realizing compact and low-frequency vibration energy suppression and energy harvesting with enhanced output performance. We designed a cantilever-based metamaterial unit cell to induce local resonance inside a periodic supercell structure and form a bandgap within the targeted low-frequency range of 300-450 Hz. Subsequently, a defect area was created by removing some unit cells to break the periodicity inside the metamaterial, which led to the isolation and localization of the vibration energy.

Purpose: Histologic transformation from EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) to small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a key mechanism of resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI). However, transcriptomic changes between NSCLC and transformed SCLC (t-SCLC) remain unexplored.
Experimental Design: We conducted whole-transcriptome analysis of 59 regions of interest through the spatial profiling of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues obtained from 10 patients (lung adenocarcinoma, 22; combined SCLC/NSCLC, 7; and t-SCLC, 30 regions of interests).
Sustainable energies from weather are the most ubiquitous and non-depleted resources. However, existing devices exploiting weather-dependent energies are sensitive to weather conditions and geographical locations, making their universal applicability challenging. Herein, we propose an all-weather sustainable glass surface integrating a triboelectric nanogenerator and radiative cooler, which serves as a sustainable device, harvesting energy from raindrops and saving energy on sunny days.
