Left ventricular mechanical dyssynchrony (LVMD) is an important prognostic factor for heart failure (HF). Phase analysis of myocardial perfusion SPECT is actively being researched to evaluate LVMD. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on the prognostic significance of LVMD using gated SPECT in HF patient.

The current study evaluates the prognostic value of SUV:tumor size ratio on pretreatment F-FDG PET/CT scans in patients with NSCLC. Furthermore, the SUV:tumor size ratio is compared with other established PET parameters.

A growing body of evidence indicates that LVMD parameters derived from phase analysis of gated myocardial SPECT may allow risk stratification for future cardiac events. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on the prognostic value of LVMD on gated SPECT in patients with coronary artery disease.

Objective: Women physicians face various forms of inequities during their training process that inhibit them from reaching their full potential. As a response, several academic institutions have established women in medicine (WIM) programs as a support system. Our objective was to investigate the prevalence of WIM programs at university-based Internal Medicine residency programs as of December 2021.

This single-center cohort study included BCRL patients who underwent baseline and follow-up lymphoscintigraphy. The percentage of excessive circumference (PEC) of the affected upper limb compared with the unaffected side was used as an indicator of the clinical severity of BCRL.

Methods: A retrospective review of 125 eyes from 125 patients who had undergone FLACS with implantation of monofocal IOL with enhanced intermediate function was conducted. The predicted refractive power was calculated using an optical biometer (IOLmaster 700) according to the K and TK in the Barrett Universal II, SRK/T, Haigis, and Holladay 2 formulas.

We investigated the bioavailability and stability of a C-Clear artificial cornea in a rabbit chemical burn model. Thirty-six rabbits were divided into a control group ( = 16) and a chemical burn group that used NaOH solution ( = 20). After lamellar dissection, the central posterior lamella was excised using a 3 mm diameter trephine, and an artificial cornea was transplanted into the lamellar pocket.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was sent to resident physicians across all specialties at a single academic institution in February 2021. The survey items asked whether participants believe residents, faculty, and the public expect men or women to be better physicians on a numerical scale from 1 to 7.

Given the importance of proactively supporting women trainees in medicine to address gender inequities, we draw on the experience of a well-established professional development initiative to provide a framework for other institutions seeking to create similar trainee-focused programs.

Additionally, the efficacy of IPL treatment alone was investigated by restricting other conventional treatments. One eye was randomly selected for an acne filter and the other for a 590-nm filter.

We sought to assess the feasibility of a CT-based radiomics model to distinguish MM from metastasis. This study retrospectively included patients with pre-treatment thoracic or abdominal contrast-enhanced CT from institution 1 (training set: 175 patients with 425 lesions) and institution 2 (external test set: 50 patients with 85 lesions).

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed whole-body bone scans and pelvic bone SPECT/CTs of 8 patients who had clinically confirmed sacroiliitis and enrolled 24 patients without sacroiliitis as references. The volume of interest of each sacroiliac joint, including both the ilium and sacrum, was drawn.
We aimed to investigate the prognostic factors for, and treatment efficacy of, intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment with a vascular filter in patients with moderate or severe meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). In this retrospective observational study, 58 moderate or severe MGD patients who underwent IPL treatment with a vascular filter were enrolled. IPL treatment was administered to the upper and lower eyelids four times at two-week intervals.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of doxycycline-loaded NO-releasing nanomatrix gel on pulp regeneration in replantation of avulsed rat teeth. A total of 28 maxillary first molars extracted from rats were replanted. The rats were divided into two groups based on the use of root surface treatment: doxycycline-loaded NO-releasing nanomatrix group and no treatment.

This study aimed to assess the effect of increasing age on open surgical technique selection and patient outcomes using the multi-institutional Synostosis Research Group (SynRG) collaboration.
Methods: Surgeons in SynRG were surveyed for key influences on their preferred open calvarial vault remodeling techniques at various patient ages: < 6, 6-12, and > 12 months.
It is difficult to detect multiple myeloma (MM) infiltration of the bone marrow on computed tomography (CT) scans of patients with osteopenia. Our aim is to determine the feasibility of using radiomics analysis to detect MM infiltration of the bone marrow on CT scans of patients with osteopenia. The contrast-enhanced thoracic CT scans of 104 patients with MM and 104 age- and sex-matched controls were retrospectively evaluated.

In addition, the gravity of environmental stresses, such as salinity and water stress, has already exceeded the threshold limit. Therefore, the optimization of nutrient efficiency in terms of plant uptake is crucial for sustainable agricultural production.

Our aims were to assess counseling and knowledge about IBD and reproductive health in a tertiary care IBD patient population.
Study Design: We anonymously surveyed women and men ages 18 to 45 cared for at the Stanford IBD clinic about reproductive health and administered the CCPKnow questionnaire.

Ga-DOTA-peptide PET/CT is a valuable tool for diagnosing neuroendocrine tumors (NET). Various tumors and normal human tissue express the somatostatin receptor (SSTR), warranting attention to positive findings on Ga-DOTA-peptide PET/CT. However, overexpression of SSTR in glomus tumors has not yet been reported.

The diagnostic and treatment methods of multiple myeloma (MM) have been rapidly evolving owing to advances in imaging techniques and new therapeutic agents. Imaging has begun to play an important role in the management of MM, and international guidelines are frequently updated. Since the publication of 2015 International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) criteria for the diagnosis of MM, whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or low-dose whole-body computed tomography (CT) and F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT have entered the mainstream as diagnostic and treatment response assessment tools.

Background: Serious complications due to periorbital vascular occlusion can occur after facial injections, including skin necrosis, ophthalmoplegia, blepharoptosis, and visual loss. Visual loss after facial filler injection is particularly rare, but it is known to have a poor prognosis despite treatment.
Aims: This study aimed to describe the prognosis and various clinical features of periorbital vascular complications after facial injection of cosmetic filler or local anesthetic.
Background: Patients with gastric cancer have an increased nutritional risk and experience a significant skeletal muscle loss after surgery. We aimed to determine whether muscle loss during the first postoperative year and preoperative nutritional status are indicators for predicting prognosis.
Methods: From a gastric cancer registry, a total of 958 patients who received curative gastrectomy followed by chemotherapy for stage 2 and 3 gastric cancer and survived longer than 1 year were investigated.
