Background: Gastric cancer is a common malignant tumor, and radical gastrectomy can markedly improve the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. However, some patients are diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer before receiving any antitumor therapy and need to receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Previous studies have shown that NACT may cause gut barrier dysfunction and intestinal dysbacteriosis which may further lead to infections.

Determining dynamic changes in ecosystem services (ESs) as well as their drivers is important for formulating effective ES management strategies and promoting regional sustainable development. However, long-term, continuous ES dynamic assessments and the spatial spillover effects of ESs have not been sufficiently addressed. To fill this gap, we conducted a comprehensive quantification of ESs on Hainan Island, specifically assessing habitat quality (HQ), carbon storage (CS), water yield (WY), soil conservation (SC), water purification (WP), and food production (FP) between 1985 and 2022.

The wind-blown sand protection system in the Shapotou section of the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway is a representative artificial ecosystem in a desert region. Over the past 70 years, this system has transformed mobile dunes into fixed dunes through vegetation succession, relying solely on natural rainfall without additional irrigation. However, ecosystem sustainability has been endangered by the emergence of numerous blowouts.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how lymphovascular invasion (LVI) affects overall survival in gastric cancer patients at pN0 stage after they've undergone surgery to remove the tumor.
  • - Out of 497 patients reviewed, 19.9% had LVI, which was linked to significantly poorer survival rates; further analysis identified LVI and the number of examined lymph nodes as independent predictors of survival.
  • - The findings suggest that for better outcomes, it is crucial to dissect more than 15 lymph nodes during surgery for patients with pN0 stage gastric cancer, especially those with LVI.

Rationale: Schwannomas are common peripheral nerve tumors originating from Schwann cells, primarily occurring in the head and neck, limbs, and trunk. Schwannomas occurring in the mesocolon are rare and often have no specific manifestations. Abdominal schwannomas need to be differentiated from common abdominal tumors such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

The valence change of transition metal ions in nanomaterials can highly enhance the electrochemical detection performance toward heavy metal ions (HMIs), and how to further promote the valence change calls enormous concerns in electroanalysis. In this work, an interfacial engineering that combing the MoS and NiS together to form the MoS/NiS complex is proposed. The density functional theory (DFT) results reveals that the novel atomic-level heterojunction between MoS and NiS will build an internal electric field (IEF), which leads to an enhanced conductivity and valence change behavior of Ni atoms in MoS/NiS complex, resulting in a superior detection performance.

Background: Gastric bronchogenic cysts (BCs) are extremely rare cystic masses caused by abnormal development of the respiratory system during the embryonic period. Gastric bronchial cysts are rare lesions that were first reported in 1956; as of 2023, only 33 cases are available in the PubMed online database. BCs usually have no clinical symptoms in the early stage, and imaging findings also lack specificity.

Lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer is more common, metastatic lymph nodes are often around the stomach, and metastasis is carried out in a certain order, but gastric cancer metastasis to axillary lymph nodes is very rare. Due to the small number of patients with this kind of metastasis, its clinical features and treatment are not very clear. We initially thought that the enlarged axillary lymph nodes were inflammatory lesions.
