Background And Aims: Hormone receptors are expressed in 70% of breast cancers and are the major biomarkers for tailoring treatment in early-stage breast cancer. In clinical routine, immunohistochemistry (IHC) is used to assess estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), HER2, and Ki67 protein expression. However, IHC procedure is challenged with pre-analytical and analytical variability.

Background & Objective: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignancy that accounts for approximately 3% gastrointestinal cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the diagnostic value of CD56, SMAD4, CEA, and p53 biomarkers in diagnosing cholangiocarcinoma and its benign mimickers.

Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on 54 CCA specimens and 27 non-cancerous pancreatobiliary tissue samples diagnosed between 2018 and 2022.

Primary cutaneous lymphomas (PCLs) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative disorders caused by the accumulation of neoplastic T or B lymphocytes in the skin. Sézary syndrome (SS) is an aggressive and rare form of cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL) characterized by an erythroderma and the presence of atypical cerebriform T cells named Sézary cells in skin and blood. Most of the available treatments for SS are not curative, which means there is an urgent need for the development of novel efficient therapies.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a geometrical isomer of linoleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, and anti-obesity properties. However, the studies reported inconstant results about the CLA-related effects on lipid profiles. As a result, meta-analysis and systematic review were performed to survey the CLA supplementation-related effect on lipid profile including high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), total cholesterol (TC), and triglycerides (TG).

In mammals, about 99% of mitochondrial proteins are synthesized in the cytosol as precursors that are subsequently imported into the organelle. The mitochondrial health and functions rely on an accurate quality control of these imported proteins. Here, we show that the E3 ubiquitin ligase F box/leucine-rich-repeat protein 6 (FBXL6) regulates the quality of cytosolically translated mitochondrial proteins.

Retroperitoneal lymphangioma as the final diagnosis of a middle-aged woman with abdominal pain: a case report.

Background: Lymphangiomas are lesions attributed to congenital malformations of the lymphatic system, or acquired chronic obstruction of the lymphatic network due to trauma, radiation, surgical manipulation, inflammation, or infection. Overall, lymaphangiomas are rare, and particularly, retroperitoneal lymphangiomas are far more uncommon per reported cases.

Therefore, we have performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the effect of folic acid supplementation on memory in RCTs.

Method: Comprehensive computerized systematic searches were conducted throughout Scopus, PubMed/Medline, and Google Scholar from inception until February 2022 to investigate the effect of folic acid supplementation memory levels in RCTs.

Thoracic Sarcoma: A New Glance at the Epidemiological Characteristics of Disease in Iran from 2009 to 2014.

Background: The heterogeneity, high rate of mortality and lack of comprehensive diagnostic methods have categorized primary sarcomas of the thorax as a malignancy with dismal outcomes and unknown etiology. Given the fundamental role of epidemiological analysis in establishing management strategies, we designed a study with focus on the epidemiological characteristics of primary thoracic sarcomas in Iran.

Methods: This national population-based cancer study was conducted on patients with histologically confirmed sarcoma of the thorax referred to the Iranian National Cancer Registry between 2009 and 2014.

XPC multifaceted roles beyond DNA damage repair: p53-dependent and p53-independent functions of XPC in cell fate decisions.

Xeroderma pigmentosum group C protein (XPC) acts as a DNA damage recognition factor for bulky adducts and as an initiator of global genome nucleotide excision repair (GG-NER). Novel insights have shown that the role of XPC is not limited to NER, but is also implicated in DNA damage response (DDR), as well as in cell fate decisions upon stress. Moreover, XPC has a proteolytic role through its interaction with p53 and casp-2S.

Is Infantile Hemangioma a Neuroendocrine Tumor?

Infantile hemangioma (IH) is the most common infantile tumor, affecting 5-10% of newborns. Propranolol, a nonselective β-adrenergic receptor (ADRB) antagonist, is currently the first-line treatment for severe IH; however, both its mechanism of action and its main cellular target remain poorly understood. Since betablockers can antagonize the effect of natural ADRB agonists, we postulated that the catecholamine produced in situ in IH may have a role in the propranolol response.

Post-Marketing Surveillance of a generic Oxaliplatin (Alvoxal) in Iranian Patients with Cancer.
