Methods: We used data from the UK Biobank (UKB) to assess early-life tobacco exposure, including in utero exposure and the age at which smoking was initiated. Cox proportional-hazards regression models were employed to gauge the relationships between early-life tobacco smoke exposure and both the risk of cognitive decline and dementia in adulthood.

Purpose/hypothesis: To evaluate whether integrating preoperative dual-plane MRI-based DL features with clinical features can assess 1-year outcomes in TMD for LDH.
Background: This randomized clinical trial protocol aimed to investigate the comparative efficacy of an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol versus traditional perioperative care programs in patients with intradural extramedullary spinal tumors.
Methods: The study included 180 patients aged 18-80 years, who were randomly assigned to two groups: Group A receiving traditional perioperative care and Group B receiving accelerated rehabilitation perioperative care. The nurse responsible for patient care was informed of the group assignment, but the patients themselves remained blinded to the intervention.
Background: The causal relationship between daytime napping and the risk of Parkinson's disease (PD) remains unclear, with prospective studies providing limited evidence. Methods: We drew upon a prospective cohort in the UK Biobank and calculated the energy-adjusted dietary inflammatory index (E-DII). The follow-up time was defined from the date of completing the last dietary survey questionnaire to the date of diagnosis of depression, anxiety, phobic anxiety, other types of anxiety, death, loss to follow-up, or the respective censoring dates for England (September 30, 2021), Scotland (July 31, 2021), and Wales (February 28, 2018).
Objective: Evidence on the individual and combined relationship of physical activity (PA) and fish oil supplement use on the incidence of Parkinson's disease (PD) risk remains lacking.

The clinical applications of the association of cortical thickness and white matter fiber with freezing of gait (FoG) are limited in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). In this retrospective study, using white matter fiber from diffusion-weighted imaging and cortical thickness from structural-weighted imaging of magnetic resonance imaging, we investigated whether a machine learning-based model can help assess the risk of FoG at the individual level in patients with PD. Data from the Parkinson's Disease Progression Marker Initiative database were used as the discovery cohort, whereas those from the Fujian Medical University Union Hospital Parkinson's Disease database were used as the external validation cohort.

Background: 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is reported to be the most widely used herbicide in home and garden environments, rendering it commonly encountered in daily life. Despite being ubiquitous, there is a scarcity of studies that have comprehensively assessed the relationship between 2,4-D exposure and cognition using multiple models.
Objective: To explore the association between 2,4-D exposure and cognition among older American people.
Background: The association between coffee and mortality risk has been found in most previous studies, and recent studies have found an association between coffee consumption and cognition. However, there is still a lack of research exploring whether the association between coffee and mortality is influenced by cognitive function.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the association of coffee, caffeine intake in coffee and decaffeinated coffee with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality in older adults with different cognitive performances.
Background: Recent research indicated that levels of dietary live microorganisms were inconsistently associated with the prevalence of depressive symptoms. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between consumption of live microorganisms and symptoms of depression.
