Background: Pediatric thyroid carcinoma presents unique surgical challenges, with potentially significant postoperative complications affecting long-term developmental outcomes. This investigation aimed to evaluate postoperative complications following thyroidectomy in pediatric patients and identify associated prognostic factors within a high-volume Vietnamese surgical center.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 112 pediatric patients (≤18 years) who underwent thyroidectomy for differentiated thyroid carcinoma between January 2014 and January 2023.
Objectives: Understanding human phenotypic plasticity in response to social, ecosystem, and climate interactions can be an important tool for designing social and public health strategies that increase climate change resilience. Sensitivity of the tibia to environmental perturbations is well established; moreover, Allen's rule predicts relatively longer tibial length in hotter climates. In this study, we hypothesized DNA methylation (DNAm) changes as potential mechanisms for impacts of environmental heat exposure in utero persisting in childhood tibial growth in Kenyan Samburu pastoralist children ages 1.

This study evaluates the surgical and oncological outcomes of TOETVA in patients with pT1b PTC.
Methods: We conducted a cohort study of 50 consecutive patients with pT1b PTC who underwent TOETVA between January 2019 and December 2024 at Our Hospital.

Background: Transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) is becoming increasingly popular in thyroid surgery. following its introduction at Vietnam National Cancer Hospital in 2018, we developed modifications to optimize surgical efficiency and patient outcomes.
Patients And Methods: We present the case of a 23-year-old female with right thyroid lobe carcinoma (cT1N0M0).
Background: To analyze the influence of lymph node ratio (LNR) in survival of clinically node-negative (cN0) patients with floor of mouth squamous cell carcinoma (FMSCC).
Materials And Methods: Clinicopathologic data from 48 patients with cN0 FMSCC who underwent curative surgery and selective neck dissection from 2015 to 2020 was retrospectively assessed. The impact of LNR and other variables on overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) was analyzed in univariate and multivariate analyses.
Causal mediation analysis has increasingly become a popular practice in various clinical trials and epidemiological applications to evaluate whether an intermediate variable is on the pathway between the exposure of interest and a response. Previous mediation analyses in the literature mainly focused on settings with a single or low-dimensional mediators and single-level data. In this article, we propose a Bayesian causal mediation analysis method that can handle our multilevel intergenerational epigenetic mechanisms study (IEMS) with high-dimensional mediators.

Aggressive angiomyxoma (AAM) is a rare benign tumor that arises from connective tissue, prominently located in the vulva, vagina, perineum, and pelvis and is mainly found in women aged about 20-40 years old. Giant intraabdominal tumors have rarely been described. These tumors develop slowly over time and are often difficult to diagnose due to various clinical findings, especially in the early stages.

Gross hematuria is one of the most common complications in postrenal transplant patients, accounting for 12% of all renal recipients. The management plan in these cases varies depending on different entities, including infection, renal cell carcinoma, chronic graft rejection, kidney calculus, or recurrence of primary disease. On the other hand, vascular malformation like arteriovenous malformation was less likely to be mentioned due to a lack of consensus in the natural history, pathogenesis, and current management.

The vast majority of synovial sarcomas are present in the extremities, with only 15% developing in the retroperitoneal space. Retroperitoneal synovial sarcoma (RSS) is an infrequent case of SS, with only about 20 cases reported in the literature.

Calculations of EAA in adults using DNA methylation have been found to accurately predict chronic disease and longevity. However, fewer studies have examined EAA in children, and drought exposure in utero has not been investigated.

PAE is considered a minimally invasive option besides other famous traditional therapies such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and open surgery. Additionally, PAE has a specific advantage in managing the elderly group and underlying health conditions like anticoagulation.

In this study, we evaluate the outcomes of benign thyroid tumour treatment using transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy via vestibular approach (TOETVA) and compare the results with those of conventional open thyroidectomy (COT).
Patients And Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study between 100 patients who underwent TOETVA and 100 who underwent COT surgery for benign diseases from June 2018 to December 2021 in our hospital.
Background: Recently, modified radical neck dissection (MRND) for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) has been performed by the transoral endoscopic approach. However, dissection of level II lymph nodes using only the transoral approach is highly difficult because of the inadequate axis of surgical view. Hence, we decided to combine the transoral and chest approaches to perform MRND.

Solitary Fibrous Tumor (SFT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor with a higher incidence of benign than malignant, most common location in the pleura. Although this tumor has been found in other locations in the body such as the head and neck region, retroperitoneal space, and intra-abdominal omentum, SFT of the gallbladder remains extremely rare in the medical literature. In this article, we present the imaging characteristics of Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of gallbladder SFT, thereby contributing to providing information in the study of this rare pathology.

Objective: The study aimed to describe the anatomy and imaging findings of the prostatic artery (PAs) on 3D rendering dual-energy multi-sequence computed tomography (DECT) in patients with symptomatic benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) treated by prostatic artery embolisation (PAE).
Methods: The study was conducted on 64 patients with BPH who underwent DECT scans with 3D rendering of the pelvic artery before intervention from August 2022 to November 2023.

Background: The transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) is increasingly being adopted worldwide because of its many advantages. However, there are few reports on the effectiveness and safety of TOETVA in children. In this study, we report the results of the application of TOETVA on 27 pediatric patients in Vietnam.

Background: Although transoral thyroidectomy has become popular in thyroid surgery, transoral robotic thyroidectomy (TORT) has only been successfully applied in a very small number of medical centers worldwide. In this video, we show a three-port TORT without an axillary incision for papillary thyroid carcinoma.
Patient And Methods: A 35-year-old female with cT1aN0M0 papillary thyroid carcinoma had a strong motivation to proceed with surgery but avoid external neck incisions.
Lower gastrointestinal tract bleeds due to appendiceal hemorrhage are extremely rare. This emergency condition requires a multidisciplinary approach to not only give a prompt diagnosis and exclude differential diagnosis but also crucial to proceed with proper intervention and cause of bleeding. In this paper, we report a case of appendiceal hemorrhage in a young male patient who presented with lower gastrointestinal bleeding.

Here, we present our preliminary data from the initial 5 consecutive patients to explore the feasibility of three-port TORT without axillary incision.
Methods: From August 2022 to December 2022, we performed TORT using three ports via the da Vinci Xi system with three robotic arms.
Intracranial electroencephalogram (iEEG) plays a critical role in the treatment of neurological diseases, such as epilepsy and Parkinson's disease, as well as the development of neural prostheses and brain computer interfaces. While electrode geometries vary widely across these applications, the impact of electrode size on iEEG features and morphology is not well understood. Some insight has been gained from computer simulations, as well as experiments in which signals are recorded using electrodes of different sizes concurrently in different brain regions.
