Recent Findings: We identified 38 relevant studies that were published in the past five years. Results of the narrative review indicate that laws related to structural racism, education, income, healthcare, the food environment, food insecurity, the built environment, transportation, air pollution, tobacco, alcohol, diet, and physical activity may impact CVD risk.
Background: The weathering hypothesis proposes that chronic exposure to social disadvantage leads to earlier onset of age-related diseases, explaining, in part, greater CVD disadvantages of racialized groups. In this commentary, we reflect on the implementation of a community-led, medical-legal partnership project designed to address barriers to legal gender affirmation and improve health outcomes for trans women of color with criminal records in Detroit.

Using a multigenerational dataset of singleton birth certificates from South Carolina from 1989 to 2020 linked along the maternal line, we constructed intergenerational social mobility trajectories of grandmaternal and maternal education and compared unadjusted and adjusted associations between trajectories and LBW among Black and White women. We found that White women were more likely to be upwardly mobile, and Black women to be downwardly mobile.
