Obesity lacks physiologically relevant human models, which constrains in-depth investigation into its underlying mechanisms and hampers the development of effective therapeutic strategies for obesity and its associated comorbidities. Here, we developed vascularized adipose organoids (VAOs) from peripheral blood mesenchymal stem cells (PBMSCs) using a standardized three-dimensional dynamic culture system that sequentially induces angiogenesis and adipogenesis. These VAOs mimic native adipose tissue with coexisting adipocytes and endothelial cells.

Cadmium (Cd) inputs in soils have been significantly increased over the last 20 years. Various approaches have been used to remove Cd from contaminated soils, with bioremediation through plants and soil microbes being the most effective. This study investigated interactions of a new plant growth promoting fungus (PGPF), Cladosporium 'BF-F' with Sesuvium portulacastrum plants for bioremediation of Cd in a laboratory setting.

Physical activity (PA) serves as a modifiable determinant of bone mineral density (BMD). However, sex- and site-specific dose-response relationships remain poorly defined. Leveraging data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES 2011-2014), this cross-sectional study investigated sex-specific associations between accelerometer-derived PA (volume and intensity) and site-specific BMD in 2,659 children and adolescents aged 8-19 years.

is an aquatic plant with a high ornamental value due to its flower. Despite the release of several versions of the lotus genome, its annotation remains inefficient, which makes it difficult to obtain a more comprehensive knowledge when -omic studies are applied to understand the different biological processes. Focusing on the petaloid of the lotus flower, we conducted a comparative proteomic analysis among five major floral organs.

Background: Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is a significant aquatic ornamental genus widely utilized in horticulture for its decorative, culinary, medicinal, and other practical uses. It presents a variety of flower shapes, including few-petalled, semi-double-petalled, double-petalled and thousand-petalled flowers, making it an ideal candidate for studying the flower development of aquatic plants. However, the molecular mechanism of floral development in lotus remains elusive.

Nanoparticle synthesis is complex, influenced by multiple variables including reagent selection. This study introduces a specialized corpus focused on "Fe, Cu, synthesis" to train a domain-specific word embedding model using natural language processing (NLP) in an unsupervised environment. Evaluation metrics included average cosine similarity, visual analysis via t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE), synonym analysis, and analogy reasoning analysis.

Introduction: Salt stress is a major constraint affecting crop productivity worldwide. Investigation of halophytes could provide valuable information for improving economically important crops to tolerate salt stress and for more effectively using halophytes to remediate saline environments. is a halophyte species widely distributed in tropical and subtropical coastal regions and can absorb a large amount of sodium (Na).

Introduction: Endophytic microorganisms are bacteria or fungi that inhabit plant internal tissues contributing to various biological processes of plants. Some endophytic microbes can promote plant growth, which are known as plant growth-promoting endophytes (PGPEs). There has been an increasing interest in isolation and identification of PGPEs for sustainable production of crops.

Background: The prevalence of childhood obesity and overweight has risen globally, leading to increased rates of metabolic disorders. Various factors, including genetic, epigenetic, and environmental influences such as diet and physical activity, contribute to pediatric obesity. This study aimed to identify specific circulating miRNAs as potential biomarkers for assessing obesity in children.

Physical exercise benefits hippocampal function through various molecular mechanisms. Protein acetylation, a conserved and widespread post-translational modification, is involved in the synaptic plasticity and memory. However, whether exercise can change global acetylation and the role of acetylated proteins in the hippocampus have remained largely unknown.

Fungal communities are essential to the maintenance of soil multifunctionality. Plant invasion represents a growing challenge for the conservation of soil biodiversity across the globe, but the impact of non-native species invasion on fungal diversity, community structure, and assembly processes remains largely unknown. Here, we examined the diversity, community composition, functional guilds, and assembly process of fungi at three soil depths underneath a native species, three non-native species, and a bare tidal flat from a coastal wetland.

Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is a perennial aquatic plant with great value in ornamentation, nutrition, and medicine. Being a storage organ, lotus rhizome is not only used for vegetative reproduction, but also as a popular vegetable in Southeast Asia. Rhizome development, especially enlargement, largely determines its yield and hence becomes one of the major concerns in rhizome lotus breeding and cultivation.

ZnO nanoparticles are widely used in biological, chemical, and medical fields, but their toxicity impedes their wide application. In this study, pristine ZnO NPs (~ 7 nm; ~ 18 nm; ~ 49 nm) and lipid-coated ZnO NPs (~ 13 nm; ~ 22 nm; ~ 52 nm) with different morphologies were prepared by chemical method and characterized by TEM, XRD, HRTEM, FTIR, and DLS. Our results showed that the lipid-coated ZnO NPs (~ 13 nm; ~ 22 nm; ~ 52 nm) groups improved the colloidal stability, prevented the aggregation and dissolution of nanocrystal particles in the solution, inhibited the dissolution of ZnO NPs into Zn cations, and reduced cytotoxicity more efficiently than the pristine ZnO NPs (~ 7 nm; ~ 18 nm; ~ 49 nm).
