Regulatory T cells (Tregs) support cancer progression through their immunosuppressive mechanisms expressing co-inhibitory molecules like programmed cell death-1 (PD-1), cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4), T cell immunoglobin-3 (TIM-3), and T-cell immunoglobin and ITIM domain (TIGIT), that suppress T-cell activation and allow tumor cells to grow uncontrollably. Emerging cancer immunotherapeutic strategies targeting these checkpoints inhibit tumor-immune escape and impede cancer progression.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTriple negative breast cancer, an inherently aggressive disease, is further impaired by the limited therapeutic options and chemotherapy-resistance; hence, elucidating the signaling nodes underlying chemotherapy resistance is of major interest. Focusing on the differentially expressed genes in recurrent TNBC, we identified TRIM29, a ubiquitin ligase belonging to TRIM family, as a uniquely enriched protein in chemoresistant TNBC. Here, we demonstrate that chemoresistant TNBC cells are inherently aggressive, exhibiting elevated growth and migration potential compared to chemosensitive cells, and in particular, they possess higher TRIM29 expression whose expression level modulation results in altered chemosensitivity.

This conjecture is based on the weak interaction between the magnesium atoms themselves and with the helium atoms and was used to explain observations in femtosecond two-photon ionization experiments by different groups. However, this theory is incongruent with previous infrared spectroscopic observations, indicating the formation of tightly bound clusters when different atoms and molecules combine inside liquid helium.
