Objective: To evaluate concordance of symptoms between initial presentation, first relapse, and second relapse in patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA).

Methods: We analyzed three GCA cohorts: a 286-patient biopsy-proven cohort treated without tocilizumab (C1), a 110-patient biopsy-negative cohort treated without tocilizumab (C2), a 114-patient biopsy- or imaging-proven cohort that was treated with tocilizumab (C3), and an aggregate of these three cohorts (C4). We calculated odds ratios and conditional probabilities to evaluate concordance of symptoms from baseline presentation features to first relapse, baseline presentation to second relapse, and first relapse to second relapse.

Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-induced inflammatory arthritis (IA) is an increasingly recognized immune-related adverse event (irAE), yet its underlying immunopathogenesis remains poorly understood. Unlike rheumatoid arthritis (RA), where autoantibodies and B cell dysfunction are central features, the contribution of humoral immunity to IA irAE is unclear. Here, we performed in-depth immunophenotyping of peripheral blood from patients with IA irAE, and compared them with seronegative RA patients, ICI-treated patients without irAE, and healthy controls.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to explore the trends of depression and anxiety among individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) over a 30-year period, comparing them to matched non-RA individuals.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 1012 patients with RA and matched controls, finding that anxiety and co-occurring anxiety and depression increased significantly from 2005-2014 compared to 1985-1994, particularly in seropositive RA patients.
  • The findings highlight a growing concern for mental health among RA patients, suggesting an increased need for clinicians to address these rising rates of anxiety and depression.
