Purpose: In breast cancer, improved treatment approaches that reduce injury to lung tissue and early diagnosis and intervention for lung toxicity are increasingly important in survivorship. The aims of this study are to (1) compare lung tissue radiographic changes in women treated with conventional photon radiation therapy and those treated with proton therapy (PT), (2) assess the volume of lung irradiated to 5 Gy (V5) and 20 Gy (V20) by treatment modality, and (3) quantify the effects of V5, V20, time, and smoking history on the severity of tissue radiographic changes.

Sanfilippo syndrome Type-B, also known as mucopolysaccharidosis IIIB (MPS IIIB), accounts for approximately one-third of all Sanfilippo syndrome patients and is characterized by a similar natural history as Type-A. Patients suffer from developmental regression, bone malformation, organomegaly, GI distress, and profound neurological deficits. Despite human trials of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) (SBC-103, AX250) in MPS IIIB, there is currently no FDA approved treatment and a few palliative options.

Objectives: To develop a model to estimate the economic burden associated with Sanfilippo syndrome in the US using direct costs, indirect costs and valued intangibles (disability-adjusted life years, or DALYs) from 2023 onward.
Design And Setting: A multistage comorbidity model was generated based on Sanfilippo syndrome symptoms, and disability weights from the 2010 Global Burden of Disease Study.
Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in the United States, and half of breast cancer survivors experience major depressive disorders (hereafter depression). Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) quality measures evaluating depression treatment practices recommend uninterrupted antidepressant treatment for 3 months in the acute phase and 3 months in the continuation phase for the general population. However, little is known about the extent of and trends in antidepressant nonadherence among breast cancer survivors with depression, which may impact adherence to breast cancer treatment, potentially leading to breast cancer recurrence and other adverse outcomes.

Two unique gene mutations in the enzyme beta-glucuronidase (GUSB) that result in the lysosomal storage disease Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type VII had previously been reported to have differing disease phenotype severities when compared on differing mouse strains. The MPSVII mouse has proven to be a highly efficacious model to study mucopolysaccharidoses and for evaluating potential gene or stem cell therapies for lysosomal storage diseases. Since it is extremely difficult to establish an animal model for human chromosomal abnormalities, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) provide a powerful alternative to study underlying mechanisms of these disorders and identify potential therapeutic interventions.
