The European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) is currently developing guidelines on immunomodulation and nutrition. To inform these recommendations, a scoping review will be conducted to synthesize and map the available empirical evidence on how complementary feeding affects immune health in infants and toddlers to explore the association between complementary feeding during the first year of life and immune health outcomes in children up to 3 years of age. The scoping review will be conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis Scoping Review Extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR) guidelines.

The goals of the complementary feeding period starting from 4 to 6 months of age are to fulfill the infant's nutritional need for nutrients and expose the infant to foods of varying flavors and textures to encourage acceptance of a diverse and nutritionally complete diet. Healthy complementary feeding consists of the timely introduction of a high diversity of whole, nutrient dense, and home-cooked foods or alternatively commercially frozen meals based on whole ingredients without added sugar or salt. These meals consist of predominantly plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains, as well as fermented foods such as yoghurt.

Background/objectives: Findings from the Learning Early About Peanut trial prompted a shift in clinical practice guidelines to support the early and continuous introduction of allergenic foods to reduce the risk of food allergy. Our study aimed to describe the reasoning behind parents' decisions on the introduction of first foods to their infants and the age at which parents first introduced common allergens.

Non-IgE-mediated food allergy encompasses a wide spectrum of allergic disorders ranging from mild to severe presentations, including food protein-induced allergic proctocolitis, food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome, and food protein-induced enteropathy. Other gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation and gastroesophageal reflux disease have not previously been recognised as symptoms of non-IgE-mediated food allergy in food allergy guideline publications. Recently, two new consensus documents from the European Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology address a potential role of food allergens in these disorders, where standard treatment has failed, and provide guidance for diagnosis and management of these conditions.

Methods: Three measures of DD were investigated in 2060 infants at 6 and/or at 9 months of age within the NorthPop Birth Cohort Study: a weighted DD score based on intake frequency, the number of introduced foods, and the number of introduced allergenic foods. In multivariable logistic regression models based on directed acyclic graphs, associations to parentally reported physician-diagnosed FA at age 9 and 18 months were estimated, including sensitivity and stratified analyses.

Background/objectives: An adapted version of an online pictorial food frequency questionnaire (FFQ), VioScreen-Allergy, assesses total dietary intake and intake of allergens and foods in the maternal diet index (MDI), linked to offspring allergy. This study assessed intermethod reliability, test-retest reliability, and external validity of the VioScreen-Allergy.
Methods: Females of childbearing age were recruited at Denver Health and Children's Hospital, Colorado, USA, and were asked to complete four 24 h recalls and two VioScreen-Allergy FFQs over the course of a month.
