Background: Patients with esophageal cancer (EC) frequently experience depression following neoadjuvant therapy and surgery, a condition that may trigger systemic inflammation, suppress antitumor immunity, and alter immune-inflammatory pathways in the tumor microenvironment (TME), potentially contributing to residual tumor progression and theoretically worsening patient prognosis. This study aimed to investigate the interrelationship between depression and prognosis in patients with EC, with a focus on immune-inflammatory biomarkers.

The intricate interaction between skeletal muscle biomechanics, the tumor microenvironment, and immunotherapy constitutes a pivotal research focus oncology. This work provides a comprehensive review of methodologies for evaluating skeletal muscle biomechanics, including handheld dynamometry, advanced imaging techniques, electrical impedance myography, elastography, and single-fiber experiments to assess muscle quality and performance. Furthermore, it elucidates the mechanisms, applications, and limitations of various immunotherapy modalities, including immune checkpoint inhibitors, adoptive cell therapy, cancer vaccines, and combined chemoimmunotherapy, while examining their effects on skeletal muscle function and systemic immune responses.

Aim: This study aims to elucidate the impact of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) on major depressive disorder (MDD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) globally, regionally, and nationally, informing targeted public health interventions and policy.

Methods: Using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2019, we assessed the impact of CSA on MDD and AUD, analyzing disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) per 100,000 population. Our analysis included age, sex, geographic locations, temporal trends in age-standardized rates (ASR), and examined the relationship between the social development index (SDI) and the burden of these disorders.

In general, it is difficult to reach the total nitrogen discharge standard in the effluent after municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. The problems hindering advanced denitrification include an unstable C/N ratio in the influent wastewater, increased hydraulic loading with increasing reflux ratio, reduced reaction kinetics, high energy consumption, and secondary pollution and high sludge yield resulting from addition of organic carbon sources. Therefore, deep denitrification with the advantages of energy savings and easy operation is urgently needed.

Background: The goal of this study was to identify the nature of the inclusion bodies that have been found in HeLa cells (cervical cancer immortal cell line) by electron microscope and to determine whether the major capsid protein (L1) of human papillomavirus (HPV) can be expressed in HPV-positive uterine cervix cancer cells.

Methods: HPV L1 protein expression in HeLa cells was detected with anti-HPV L1 multivalent mice monoclonal antibody and rabbit polyclonal anti-HPV L1 antibody by ELISA, light microscope immunohistochemistry, electron microscope immunocytochemistry and Western blotting assays. Reverse transcriptional PCR (RT-PCR) was performed to detect the transcription of L1 mRNA in HeLa cells.
