Objective: To study the effect of laparoscopic ovarian drilling (LOD) vs. step-up gonadotropin therapy on follicular response in infertile anovulatory polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) women resistant to sequential letrozole + human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG)-based ovulation induction (OVI) cycles DESIGN: Open-labeled, pilot, randomized controlled trial SUBJECTS: Infertile anovulatory PCOS women (diagnosed according to modified Rotterdam criteria), resistant to sequential letrozole 5 mg + HMG-based OVI cycle (no dominant follicle >10 mm after 14 days of stimulation). Other inclusion criteria were: age 19-38 years; body mass index ≤35 kg/m; patent fallopian tubes documented on either hysterosalpingography/saline infusion sonography or laparoscopy; antimüllerian hormone (AMH) levels >6 ng/mL.

Background: With specific symptomatology and clinical presentation, the validity of standard quality of life assessment scales is questionable for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) women.

Aim: The aim of the study was to translate and validate the Hindi version of the PCOS-related Quality of Life (PCOSQOL) scale into culturally adaptable, screening tool for Indian women with PCOS.

Settings And Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital.

Objective: To study the impact of updated international diagnostic criteria for follicle number per ovary (FNPO) on diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and phenotype classification among Asian-Indian women. Also, to compare the low FNPO and high FNPO groups in terms of clinical, anthropometric, endocrine, and metabolic parameters.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted at a tertiary care referral center.

Background And Aims: Malnutrition has a considerable influence on critically ill patients by increasing mortality and poorer clinical outcomes. The modified Nutrition Risk in Critically Ill (mNUTRIC) score is commonly used to assess nutritional risk and predict death; however, its sensitivity, specificity, and optimal cut-off values differ between studies. This study uses a Bayesian approach to assess the accuracy of the mNUTRIC score in predicting mortality in critically ill patients.

Objective: To report three cases of Robert's uterus and to describe the types, diagnostic methods, and management options for this rare Mullerian anomaly.

Methods: Three adolescent girls presented with progressive severe dysmenorrhea since menarche. Two girls had undergone inappropriate surgeries due to misdiagnosis in past which did not relieve their symptoms.

In the present study, characterization of bacterial isolate from fermented foods based on the morphology, biochemical, and molecular analysis identified Lactiplantibacillus plantarum. The bacterium was tested for its ability to degrade monocrotophos (MCP) at a concentration of 1000 ppm. The dephosphorylation potential of this bacterial enzyme against organophosphate substrates including MCP was analyzed.

Shifting emission wavelengths through different excitation methods can provide valuable insights; however, the reduced intensity of the shifted peaks often presents challenges in practical applications. In this work, we report the exceptional enhancement of optical and chemical properties of carbon dots (CDs) by simple doping of erbium ions (Er ions). Doping carbon dots (CDs) with Er ions can significantly enhance their photoluminescence properties and emission wavelengths are tunable across the entire visible region.

The polyphagous insect pest, Spodoptera litura displays insecticide resistance that requires new control tactics. In this context, inorganic silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) and mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNPs) were studied for their insecticidal activity and their effects on the plant defense responses. The synthesized silica (SiNPs,160 nm size) and mesoporous silica (MSNPs,100 nm size) nanoparticles showed high insecticidal effect of against S.

Background And Aims: Postpartum period is a crucial window for implementing interventions aimed at preventing the future development of obesity and associated metabolic complications in the vulnerable population. Various weight loss interventions have been evaluated with variable results, and sufficient data are lacking in the Indian context. The study aims to assess the efficacy of intensive personalised lifestyle intervention on weight management for Indian postpartum women.

Background: Granulomatous inflammation is a persistent inflammatory reaction marked by the presence of aggregations of active histiocytes, epithelioid cells, and multinucleate giant cells. This phenomenon is reported in several viral and non-infectious diseases and is classified as a type IV delayed hypersensitivity response.

Research Materials And Procedures: The present cross-sectional study was conducted in the histopathology section of the Department of Pathology, MMIMSR, Mullana, from October 2022 to October 2023.

Unlabelled: Hysterectomy, removal of the uterus, is a commonly performed surgery for gynaecological morbidities. Emerging evidence indicates that hysterectomy performed before age 45 (early hysterectomy), is associated with considerable risks to women's health. While most evidence on hysterectomy is from high-income settings, national surveys from India report high prevalence of early hysterectomy in specific regions, as well as higher prevalence amongst women in rural areas and with less education.

Background: Ovulation induction (OI) in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) remains challenging, and several biomarkers have been evaluated for their ability to predict ovulation. The predictive ability of candidate biomarkers, particularly with letrozole-based therapy in infertile PCOS women, remains inconclusive as it is yet to be evaluated in a prospective study.

Aim: To assess the role of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinising hormone (LH)/FSH ratio, testosterone and free androgen index (FAI) as predictors of ovarian response to letrozole-based OI therapy during OI cycles in infertile women with PCOS from North India.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates young adults in India, focusing on their knowledge of obesity risks, motivation for weight loss, and barriers they face in managing their weight.
  • Six focus group discussions were held with obese young adults aged 18-30, using varied sampling methods to gather diverse insights on obesity.
  • Findings revealed a need for greater awareness about obesity, identified physical appearance and social support as key motivators for weight loss, and suggested a holistic approach including dietary changes and educational reforms to combat obesity among young adults.

Background We assessed the efficacy and safety of management of morbidly adherent placenta by the transfundal uterine incision approach. As a secondary outcome measure, we compared ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the diagnosis of adherent placenta. Methods We retrospectively analysed the records of 5 years of women with adherent placenta.

The Hedgehog (HH) pathway regulates embryonic development of anterior tongue taste fungiform papilla (FP) and the posterior circumvallate (CVP) and foliate (FOP) taste papillae. HH signaling also mediates taste organ maintenance and regeneration in adults. However, there are knowledge gaps in HH pathway component expression during postnatal taste organ differentiation and maturation.

Article Synopsis
  • The meta-analysis aimed to assess how the modified NUTRIC (mNUTRIC) score affects mortality rates in critically ill patients.
  • A total of 31 studies involving over 13,000 patients were reviewed, showing the mNUTRIC score has strong discrimination ability for predicting mortality (sAUC of 0.80).
  • The findings suggest that the mNUTRIC score effectively differentiates between critically ill patients and can help predict their risk of dying, regardless of the specific cut-off values used.
