The first search for a heavy neutral spin-1 gauge boson (Z^{'}) with nonuniversal fermion couplings produced via vector boson fusion processes and decaying to tau leptons or W bosons is presented. The analysis is performed using LHC data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, collected from 2016 to 2018 with the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1}. The data are consistent with the standard model predictions.

In obesity, excess weight of the chest and abdomen (mass loading) decreases lung volume and can worsen acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). We investigated whether positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) fully reverses the effects of mass loading on lung volume and respiratory mechanics in an AHRF swine model. Eighteen Yorkshire pigs were studied: six healthy, eight pre- and post-injury, and four post-injury only.

The widespread use of screen technologies among young children has raised concerns on their potential impact on health, development, and family dynamics. Although pediatric guidelines worldwide recommend clear limitations and supervised use of screens for toddlers and children, these guidelines are often overlooked in the daily practices of most parents. Digital Guardians [] seeks to address this gap by providing tailored guidance on screen management, from birth to adolescence, through family pediatricians during mandatory health checkups.

In candidates for hepatectomy, different techniques to induce liver hypertrophy and modulate the future liver remnant are available. However, their use in specific clinical scenarios is highly heterogeneous and there is no consensus about minimal safety standards needed to incorporate these strategies into routine clinical practice. The aim of this position paper was to summarize newly available evidence in the field and compare medical practice among different hepatobiliary surgical units to evaluate the transformative potential of liver hypertrophy techniques in surgical oncology.

Chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS) is an intriguing yet poorly understood phenomenon observed when electrons travel through a chiral medium or molecule. We propose a current-constrained approach to drive a current through a linear Hubbard chain of twisted orbitals, thus simulating the electron motion through a chiral molecular system. In this original approach, CISS can be addressed in systems with correlated electrons coupled to nonadiabatic molecular vibrations.

Selenide amorphous alloys are of interest for applications in selector devices that exploit a sort of reversible dielectric breakdown called ovonic threshold switching. In the on-state of the device, the system is typically brought into the supercooled liquid phase above the glass transition temperature, where the atomic mobility is sufficiently high to cause demixing driven by the electric field. The electromigration force F responsible for ionic migration is proportional to the electric field E via the effective charge Z* (F = |e|Z*E, where e is the electron charge), which is thus of great relevance for the electrothermal modeling of the devices.

Exposures to fine particulate matter (PM) have been associated with health impacts, but our understanding of PM concentration-response (PM-CR) relationships remains incomplete. This study investigates the association between particulate-bound reactive oxygen species (PB-ROS) and cellular oxidative stress responses induced by urban nanoparticles. PB-ROS were measured using the DCFH assay, both on PTFE filters (24-hour resolution, PB-ROS) and PB-ROS measured using a Particle-Into-Liquid Sampler (2-hour resolution, PB-ROS).

In survival analysis, models typically assess the impact of a single Time-Varying Exposure (TVE), where the exposure status can change over time. However, situations with multiple TVEs frequently arise, and adequate statistical handling remains an area of active research. To apply multiple time-varying approaches and to compare estimates derived from different models using an application with real-world data in the paediatric field.

Objective: Leukodystrophies are a group of genetically determined neurological disorders affecting the white matter of the central nervous system and they have a profound impact on the daily lives of patients and their caregivers. However, only a few studies have analyzed the psychological experiences of parents of children with these conditions. The main aims of the present study were to assess parental burden and parenting stress in caregivers and to evaluate the relationships between parents' experiences and the perceived clinical characteristics of their children.

Under typical conditions, the somatosensory system maintains stable functionality. However, the somatosensory cortex can rapidly reorganize in response to sensory input changes, as demonstrated by studies on sensory deprivation and experience-dependent plasticity. Nevertheless, somatosensory plasticity related to unusual sensorimotor activation, such as spatial incongruence between motor commands and somatosensory feedback patterns during body-environment interactions, remains less investigated.

Advances made in digital health in recent years have the potential to improve the care of patients living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for whom substantial disability still exists. In particular, telehealth and telerehabilitation programs, wearable devices, and apps have been studied as novel methods of providing care to COPD patients who may have limited access to clinical centers or who may benefit from an increased level of monitoring. Many of these interventions gained traction during the COVID-19 pandemic when mandated social isolation required the rapid implementation of remote care models.
