Dopamine DR availability after discontinuation of antipsychotic treatment: a [C]raclopride PET study in remitted first-episode psychosis patients.

Background: After remission of a first-episode psychosis (FEP), antipsychotic discontinuation is associated with an increased risk of relapse compared to maintenance treatment. We studied short and longer-term effects of discontinuation of D receptor (DR) antagonist and partial agonist antipsychotics on striatal dopamine DR availability in FEP patients.

Methods: Remitted FEP patients underwent two [C]raclopride PET scans to measure striatal DR availability: 1 week after antipsychotic discontinuation (n = 16 antagonist users, n = 6 partial agonist users) and after being medication free for 6-8 weeks (n = 8 antagonist users, n = 5 partial agonist users).

Conventional identification methods are hampered by the need for significant expertise and resources, while CNNs offer a promising alternative. Our research aimed to develop a reliable and applicable classification system that can be used under real-world conditions, with a focus on improving model adaptability to unencountered devices, mitigating dataset biases, and ensuring usability across different users without standardized protocols.

Bank complexity and core competence of commercial banks in Vietnam: The buffer role of corporate social responsibility.

Based on stakeholder theory, socially responsible practices may help firms gain competitive advantages by lowering operational costs and enhancing their core competencies. From the perspective of the conglomerate hypothesis, we further suggest that CSR can act as a mechanism to reduce hidden risks, as firms, particularly banks, tend to diversify their activities more extensively. Using a sample of 26 commercial banks in Vietnam from 2010 to 2023, we test a set of hypotheses and find that engaging in CSR and diversifying operations are associated with lower risk exposure, greater financial stability, and improved asset quality.

Microbial communities play a crucial role in the functioning of freshwater ecosystems but are continuously threatened by climate change and anthropogenic activities. Elevated temperatures and salinisation are particularly challenging for freshwater habitats, but little is known about how microbial communities respond to the simultaneous exposure to these stressors. Here, we use mesocosm experiments and amplicon sequencing data to investigate the responses of pelagic and benthic microbial communities to temperature and salinity increases, both individually and in combination.
