The diverse nature and timing of a clubfoot relapse pose challenges for early detection. A relapsed clubfoot typically involves a combination of deformities affecting a child's movement pattern across multiple joint levels, formed by a complex kinematic chain. Machine learning algorithms have the capacity to analyse such complex nonlinear relationships, offering the potential to train a model that assesses whether a child has relapsed clubfoot based on their movement pattern.

Background: The occurrence and the treatment of a relapsed clubfoot is a challenge in clubfoot care. Early recognition of relapse is important to minimize the invasiveness of treatment and its impact on foot functionality later in life. Gaining insight into a child's functional performance during various challenging activities will provide a comprehensive understanding of treatment outcomes which might result in crucial information for identifying relapse indicators.

Predicting long-term movement behavior patterns after stroke: Development of a clinical prediction rule.

Int J Stroke

July 2025

Research Group Empowering Healthy Behaviour, Department of Health Innovations and Technology, Fontys University of Applied Sciences, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Background: Within the first years post-discharge, movement behavior of people with a first-ever stroke often deteriorates, with inactive movement behavior increasing the risk of recurrent cardiovascular events. Early identification of patients at risk of inactive movement behavior is essential for referring the right patients and tailoring movement-behavior change interventions, which could support secondary prevention of recurrent cardiovascular events.

Aims: This study aimed to develop and internally validate a clinical prediction rule to identify at hospital discharge people at risk of an inactive movement behavior pattern within the first 2 years following a stroke.

Breaking the Hydrogen Bond Barrier Reversibly: Toward Ultradrawable Polyamides.

ACS Appl Polym Mater

June 2025

Aachen-Maastricht Institute for Biobased Materials, Maastricht University, P.O. Box 616, Maastricht 6200 MD, The Netherlands.

In polyamides, hydrogen bonding and conformations of amide motifs are strongly influenced by pH, ions and their concentration, and water molecules and their structure. To fulfill the physical requirements for ultradrawing of polyamide 6, we first complete our fundamental insight into the role of water, ions, and polyamide 6 crystal structures on the concept of reversible shielding of hydrogen bonds. The reversible shielding depends on a complementary superchaotropic effect of anions and the kosmotropic effect of cations, locally affecting the structuring and interactions of water.

Background: The success of eHealth relies on interorganizational collaboration (IOC) throughout the development, evaluation, and implementation phases of eHealth deployment. This IOC is complex, as it involves a diversity of organizations from different sectors, such as technological, academic, health care, and governmental organizations, collaborating to deploy eHealth. Between these organizations, organizational boundaries, defined as the demarcation of an organization from its environment, arise.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture requires reconstruction (ACLR), often using tendon autografts, to restore joint stability. However, postoperative issues persist, especially in younger patients, with the primary cause still unclear. These issues are believed to result from a detrimental in vivo remodeling response, characterized by macrophage-involving inflammation that is driven by dead and dying graft resident cells.
