Cannabis compounds are well-known for their therapeutic applications in the treatment of various health issues. These substances, mainly cannabinoids, are known for their antimicrobial properties and ability to interact with various cells through endocannabinoid receptors. However, the limitations of cannabis extract, particularly its viscosity, stickiness, and low bioavailability when applied topically, limit its use in dermatology.

Background: Effective risk communication is essential in managing cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of global mortality. Clear communication between patients and physicians supports informed decision-making, yet comprehension gaps persist. We aimed to assess the quality of risk communication during hospital admissions for cardiovascular events, from patient and physician perspectives, and identify discrepancies in risk perception and associated factors.

Horticultural crops are increasingly exposed to simultaneous abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, and temperature extremes, which often exacerbate each other's effects, leading to severe yield and quality losses. Addressing these multifaceted challenges necessitates the development and application of integrated and innovative strategies. This review highlights recent advancements in methodologies to enhance the resilience of horticultural crops against combined abiotic stresses.

Liquid chromatography has advanced considerably since its introduction in the 1970s, with reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) becoming the dominant technique for separating non-volatile molecules. A key strategy for optimising separation conditions is the modelling of chromatographic retention from experimental data. Traditionally, this is achieved by fitting model parameters for each solute, resulting in individual solute models (ISMs).

Essential oils (EOs) are a promising alternative to conventional pesticides, but some challenges like high volatility, poor water solubility, and rapid degradation limit their use in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). To overcome these limitations, this study aimed to develop garlic, eucalyptus, and clove EO-based nano-emulsions (EO-NEs) in a bait treatment format through the high-pressure microfluidization technique and investigated the biological activities against Ceratitis capitata. In addition, the adverse effects of the most promising nano-emulsion were evaluated towards a non-target parasitoid Anagaspis daci.

The dynamic structural evolution of heterogeneous catalysts is a ubiquitous phenomenon that has attracted a lot of interest. Catalyst reconstruction can occur after appropriate pretreatment, resulting in more efficient active catalysts, which is an attractive but challenging issue. Here, we reveal a CO activation strategy that controls the microenvironment of the Co sites in the high-silica Co-ZSM-5 catalyst (denoted as 0.

The pods of Neltuma species have been traditionally used as nutrient-rich sources of food ingredients. However, Neltuma affinis, a native species of South America, remains understudied. This work aimed to produce and characterize powders from different pod fractions (specifically, the endocarp-seeds (ESF) and epicarp-mesocarp (EMF) fractions) by dry grinding, evaluating their physicochemical, nutritional, functional, and cytotoxic properties.

Background: Thermoelectric (TE) materials can directly convert heat into electricity, which is beneficial for energy sustainability. Organic conducting polymers are TE materials that have drawn significant attention owing to different favorable properties, such as good processability, availability, flexibility, and intrinsically low thermal conductivity. Among the organic TEs, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) is the most extensively investigated material because of its stability and high electrical conductivity.

In this essay, I offer my take on contemporary matters relevant to the existing, emerging, and imagined intersections between qualitative health research (QHR) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). The essay's central argument is that the increasing reliance on GenAI in QHR is eroding scholarly craftspersonship and should be challenged. In order to present and justify this argument, I posit five coordinated observations: The growing body of literature on using GenAI in qualitative research is reducing qualitative research to coding and pattern recognition; the turn to GenAI disincentivizes reading and stultifies qualitative health researchers; the infatuation with GenAI amplifies the process of McDonaldization of QHR; the time that GenAI saves us isn't being used to become better researchers; and our tendency to humanize GenAI may dehumanise us, whereas craftspersonship is a state of being human.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a globally important crop, yet the gene regulatory networks (GRNs) controlling gene expression remain poorly understood. In this study, we constructed GRNs for roots, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds by inferring transcription factor (TF)-target interactions from over 10,000 RNA-seq libraries using the GENIE3 algorithm. We refined these networks with gene co-expression data and computational predictions of TF binding sites.

While reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) using C18 columns remains a cornerstone technique in analytical separations, its limited selectivity has driven the development of alternative stationary phases and advanced strategies, such as serial-column coupling, to expand chromatographic capabilities. This approach connects columns of different lengths and chemistries in series to create hybrid configurations that enhance separation performance. Beyond improving resolution, serial coupling can also reduce analysis times, particularly combined with modern zero-dead-volume connectors that minimise band broadening, which have renewed interest in this approach.

The surface chemistry of Ti40Zr alloys plays a significant role in the formation of the bowl-shaped morphology of polydopamine (PDA). The bowl-shaped PDA morphology formation mechanism on the metal surface and its potential application in biomineralization and long-term stability as an implant material were investigated systematically. A novel nonsacrificial template-assisted bowl-shaped hollow capsule PDA formation was formed on alkali-treated Ti40Zr.

Steel truss bridges are constructed by connecting many different types of bars (components) to form a load-bearing structural system. Several disastrous collapses of this type of bridge have occurred as a result of initial component failure(s) propagating to the rest of the structure. Despite the prevalence and importance of these structures, it is still unclear why initial component failures propagate disproportionately in some bridges but barely affect functionality in others.

Viruses are ubiquitous biological entities that shape host evolution and ecosystem dynamics. Among them, negative-sense single-stranded RNA (-ssRNA) viruses form a diverse group that includes well-characterized vertebrate pathogens and an expanding repertoire of invertebrate-infecting viruses. Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing have revealed numerous insect-associated -ssRNA viruses, reshaping our understanding of their diversity, transmission, and ecological significance.
