Background: Many children and adolescents who undergo solid organ transplants (SOT) develop post-traumatic stress (PTS) symptoms. Despite its prevalence and strong association with long-term impairments in quality of life, PTS is often overlooked as a major co-morbidity in many transplant programs. To address this unmet need, the purpose of this study was to explore the factors that impede or facilitate awareness of PTS, access to resources, and readiness to engage with mental health services.

Background: Postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage and bleeding are major postoperative complications that increase healthcare system costs. The use of Hemopatch® Sealing Hemostat has been shown to reduce the incidence of such postoperative complications. This technical report aims to provide neurosurgeons with the best recommendations for the effective use of Hemopatch® as a hemostatic and dural sealant in cranial and spinal procedures.

Objective: Since legalization in 2018, older Canadians' use of cannabis has increased steadily, yet little is known about their perceptions of cannabis. We aimed to determine cannabis usage, and characterize perceptions of safety, effectiveness and stigma in community dwelling older Canadians.
Method: Canadians aged 50 years and older were invited to participate in an electronic survey of their experience with cannabis and perceptions of cannabis safety, effectiveness, and stigma.

Background: The development of antibody-drug conjugates (ADC) for cancer treatment has achieved promising results in different solid tumors and targets. Enfortumab-Vedotin (EV), a humanised anti-Nectin4-IgG1 monoclonal antibody linked to the microtubule-disrupting agent monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE), is an FDA-approved Nectin4-directed ADC for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic pre-treated urothelial cancer. Targeted therapy with EV requires the expression of Nectin4 within the tumor cells.

Objectives: Macrotroponin refers to circulating immunoglobulin-bound cardiac troponin species that may elevate troponin results in patients with or without myocardial injury, causing diagnostic confusion. Clinical laboratories have been recommended to provide a service for troponin interference investigation. We evaluated the applicability of a Protein A/G IgG-depletion procedure as well as polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation for detecting macrotroponin interference with the Siemens Atellica troponin I (TnIH) assay.

We introduce , a user-friendly software tool designed to construct polysaccharide nanostructures─mainly those based on cellulose, chitin, and chitosan─using experimental data or user-defined parameters. NPB enables the generation of cellulose and chitin allomorphs with customizable biochemical topologies and also facilitates the construction of large bundles that replicate nanostructures found in biological support systems, including plant cell walls and arthropod cuticles. The software outputs atomic Cartesian coordinates in Protein Data Bank (PDB) format and also provides atom connectivity files in PSF and PARM formats, ensuring seamless integration with major molecular dynamics (MD) engines such as NAMD, CHARMM, GROMACS, AMBER, OpenMM, and LAMMPS.

Introduction: Exercising upright can promote rehabilitation and reduce the risk of cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal complications from prolonged sitting. Seated Active Arm Passive Leg Exercise (AAPLE) offers cardiovascular benefits; however, no commercially available device currently enables fully supported, upright AAPLE. The AAPLEwalk device transitions wheelchair users from sitting to standing, facilitating gait-like movements at varying intensities.

Objective: This study examined the relationship between psychopathy and subtypes of aggression and firearm violence among a high-risk, community-based sample of adults. Specifically, it assessed whether the four-facet model of psychopathy (interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, and antisocial) was differentially associated with reactive and proactive aggression and reactive and proactive gun violence. Additionally, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to evaluate the factor structure of the Self-Report Psychopathy Short Form (SRP-SF) in this population.

Objective: To quantify preferences for sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI) testing in the general adult population in Canada.
Method: We developed an online discrete choice experiment survey and administered it to a sample of the general Canadian population aged 19 and up recruited using an online market research panel. We included six attributes based on the literature and a qualitative study: location of test administration; requisition and personal information requirement; specimen collection method; test accuracy (false-negative rate); time to result and out-of-pocket costs.

Wrestling is a popular high school sport despite high injury and concussion rates. Instrumented mouthguards can reliably measure head acceleration events (HAEs) accrued by wrestlers and may highlight potential sex differences; important considering the higher concussion rates among female athletes. The purpose of this study was to measure HAEs accrued in high school wrestling matches and compare frequency, magnitude, and head impact location between female and male wrestlers.

Contradictory lines of evidence have made it difficult to resolve the phylogenetic history of the legume diversification era; this is true for the backbone topology, and for the number and timing of whole genome duplications (WGDs). By analyzing the transcriptomic data for 473 gene families in 76 species covering all six accepted legume subfamilies, we assessed the phylogenetic relationships of the legume backbone and uncovered evidence of independent whole genome duplications in each of the six legume subfamilies. Three subfamilies - Cercidoideae, Dialioideae, and Caesalpinioideae - bear evidence of an allopolyploid duplication pattern suggestive of ancient hybridization.

Stigma and Resilience Among Vulnerable Youth Centre, The University of British Columbia, University of British Columbia School of Nursing, T201-2211 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver, BC, V6T 2B5, Canada.
Background: Migrant youth in Canada are disproportionately vulnerable to the consequences of inadequate contraception use compared to their Canada-born peers, yet the sexual health behaviours of this population across time are poorly understood. This study mapped national Canadian trends in migrant adolescent sexual health behaviors disaggregated by migrant status and sex over eight years.
Methods: Canadian Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) study data were analyzed in 2014, 2018, and 2022 for sexual experience, condom, contraceptive pill, dual and neither method use at last intercourse.

Understanding variation in plant assimilation-temperature (AT) responses is essential for improving forecasts of climate change feedbacks and their impacts on the biosphere. Previous studies have focused on acclimation to weather or adaptation to climate of origin, but relationships between AT response parameters and leaf functional traits or phylogeny have received little attention. To evaluate the influence of climate, traits, and phylogeny on AT response, we used the new Fast Assimilation-Temperature Response (FAsTeR) gas exchange method to measure 243 AT response curves in 102 species from 96 families grown in a common garden.

Introduction: The utility of bedside screening tests for the prediction of difficult airways is limited. There is growing interest in the role of point-of-care-ultrasound in airway assessment and management. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the diagnostic utility and clinical application of various upper airway point-of-care-ultrasound parameters in the prediction of difficult airways.

Background: Managing sleep is a challenging experience in early parenthood, and infant sleep problems are associated with negative outcomes within the family. A large market of devices to monitor infants' real-time health information during sleep has emerged, including smart cameras, under-mattress sensors and wearable devices. The impacts of these products on maternal and parental mental health and medical decision-making are poorly understood.
