Objectives: Serum uric acid (SUA) has been suggested to be associated with obesity, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, and hypertension. However, whether uric acid is independently associated with the risk of myocardial infarction (MI), a major type of cardiovascular disease (CVD), remains debatable, especially across different populations. This study aims to examine the relationship between SUA levels and MI in an adult population group in Bangladesh.

However, there could be a possible link between body mass index (BMI) and the risk of eating disorders (EDs) in connection with IA. This study aimed to determine the relationship between risk of EDs, BMI, and IA among Bangladeshi adolescents, as well as factors associated with IA.

Cancer immunotherapy has transformed oncology by harnessing the immune system to specifically target cancer cells, offering reduced systemic toxicity compared to traditional therapies. This review highlights key strategies, including adoptive cell transfer (ACT), immune checkpoint inhibitors, oncolytic viral (OV) therapy, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and mRNA-based vaccines. ACT reinfuses enhanced immune cells like tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) to combat refractory cancers, while checkpoint inhibitors (eg, PD-1 and CTLA-4 blockers) restore T-cell activity.

In this article, we discuss a simple method to prepare core-shell Ag@TiO nanoparticles (NPs) with an optimized shell thickness to engineer plasmonic photocatalysts and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates. Variation in the shell (TiO) thickness was analyzed by an acid-etching method, and the deterioration of the shell was traced by monitoring the extinction spectra of both colloidal and solid-supported Ag@TiO NPs. Attainment of the optimum shell thickness was confirmed by noticing the simultaneous appearance of the LSPR absorption band (at 450 nm) of core silver nanostructures ( = ∼10 nm) and the scattering signature of the shell (TiO) in the extinction spectrum of Ag@TiO NPs.

Background: According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 322 million individuals all over the world suffered from depressive disorders in 2015. The risk of depression increases in pregnancy due to certain hormonal changes in the body. Despite the severe impacts of antenatal depression on both maternal and infant health, research on this issue remains limited in Bangladesh.

Reefs in the Northern Straits of Malacca are exposed to low-light conditions mainly due to sedimentation. Corals can be found in the urban reefs of Pulau Kendi (PK) and Pulau Songsong (PS) despite being exposed to low-light stress. Rapid Light Curve (RLC) measurements were performed in situ using a Diving Pulse Amplitude Modulated (PAM) fluorometer to investigate the photoacclimation of hard corals in the turbid waters of the non-protected reefs in PK and PS.

Introduction: Lung cancer (LC) is a highly aggressive malignancy and remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which includes adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), accounts for the majority of these deaths. Due to the lack of early clinical symptoms and late-stage diagnosis, there is an urgent need for precise and targeted therapeutic strategies.

Crop and drought monitoring are vital for sustainable agriculture, as they ensure optimal crop growth, identify stress factors, and enhance productivity, all of which contribute to food security. However, climate projections are equally important as they provide future adaptation scenarios for agriculture. This study aims to project climatic scenarios for northern Bangladesh, assess agricultural and meteorological drought, and estimate crop yield using remote sensing and field data.

Dengue fever, caused by the dengue virus (DENV), presents a significant global health concern, with millions of cases reported annually. Despite significant progress in understanding Dengue fever, effective prognosis and treatment remain elusive due to the complex clinical presentations and limitations in current diagnostic methods. The virus, transmitted primarily by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, exists in four closely related forms, each capable of causing flu-like symptoms ranging from mild febrile illness to severe manifestations such as plasma leakage and hemorrhagic fever.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a subtype of congestive heart failure distinguished by a normal ejection fraction. Comorbidities associated with its development typically include chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity that restrict the heart's filling pressure. Since heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) has been the subject of much research, physicians have always been faced with the problem of a lack of effective therapeutic interventions when treating patients with HFpEF.
