Background And Aims: The burden of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) is on the rise, even among university students, and is responsible for a high proportion of death and disability worldwide, especially in developing countries. Hence, this study aimed to identify the prevalence and distribution of risk factors for NCDs among university students in Bangladesh.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 460 students from different universities in Bangladesh from October to November 2023 using a validated and structured WHO STEPS Questionnaire.
Background And Aims: Internet-related disorders for example, internet addiction (IA) seem to be frequent among adolescents all over the world. However, there could be a possible link between body mass index (BMI) and the risk of eating disorders (EDs) in connection with IA. This study aimed to determine the relationship between risk of EDs, BMI, and IA among Bangladeshi adolescents, as well as factors associated with IA.

In this article, we discuss a simple method to prepare core-shell Ag@TiO nanoparticles (NPs) with an optimized shell thickness to engineer plasmonic photocatalysts and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates. Variation in the shell (TiO) thickness was analyzed by an acid-etching method, and the deterioration of the shell was traced by monitoring the extinction spectra of both colloidal and solid-supported Ag@TiO NPs. Attainment of the optimum shell thickness was confirmed by noticing the simultaneous appearance of the LSPR absorption band (at 450 nm) of core silver nanostructures ( = ∼10 nm) and the scattering signature of the shell (TiO) in the extinction spectrum of Ag@TiO NPs.

This perspective aimed to evaluate the status of residential and formal home care models and propose potential strategies to improve elderly care in Bangladesh.
Methods: This perspective utilized a narrative review approach to search existing literature on elderly care in Bangladesh on PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science.

A high recombination rate is a major limiting factor in photocatalysis. Mitigating recombination through material engineering and photocatalyst optimization is key to enhancing photocatalytic performance. In this study, a heterostructure MoS/CdS nanocomposite was synthesized through a hydrothermal method in a Teflon-lined autoclave subjected to a temperature of 200 °C for 16 hours.

This study aims to investigate the potential association between exposure to allergenic foods and the development of skin disease across Bangladesh.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey with 970 respondents from the divisions of Dhaka, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Chattogram who self-reported skin disease triggered by food allergens.
Background: With the ever-increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into health care, it becomes imperative to gain an in-depth understanding of how health care professionals, specifically nurse practitioners, perceive and approach this transformative technology.
Objectives: This study aimed to gain insights into nurse practitioners' perceptions and attitudes toward AI adoption in health care.
Methods: This qualitative research employed a descriptive and phenomenological approach using in-depth interviews.
Childhood experiences are known to shape individuals' development and can influence various aspects of life later on. Understanding the long-term effects is crucial for informing interventions and policies aimed at promoting healthy aging. This review aimed to explore the long-term effects of childhood experiences on older individuals.

The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of the overall mental health status among Bangladeshi university students. The study used larger and more diverse sample compared to previous studies, and also explored factors associated with the mental health well-being of those students.

Understanding how parasitism varies across these spatio-temporal scales is crucial to predicting how organisms will respond to and cope under a rapidly changing climate. Empirical work on how parasitism varies across climates is limited.

An ingenious double-grating metamaterial-based ultrathin-broadband absorber consisting of AlGaAs-Ge-GaAs on a titanium film operating in the visible to infrared wavelength was designed in this work. This structure is capable of overcoming the Shockley-Queisser (SQ) limit and the tunneling junction effect of tandem solar cells. Our comprehensive study revealed the structure's absorption mechanism using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique, which exhibited excellent short-circuit current density and high absorption.

l-Glutamic acid/ZnS (L-GA/ZnS) composites were prepared by varying the amount of ZnS addition ranging from 1-5 wt% by means of an easy solvent casting approach. The morphological investigation, antimicrobial activity, photocatalytic enactment, and electrochemical properties of the composites were evaluated. The formation of L-GA/ZnS composites was confirmed by FTIR, UV-Vis, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy.
