Antithrombotic therapy is essential after coronary artery bypass graft surgery to reduce ischaemic events and prevent graft occlusion. Although aspirin remains the most commonly used agent, in higher-risk patients, dual antiplatelet therapy or combining antiplatelet therapy with oral anticoagulation may be beneficial, but this increases bleeding risk. The choice of antithrombotic therapy should be tailored to each patient, based on their ischaemic and bleeding risks, and regularly reassessed.

This study evaluates the potential human health risks of environmental pollutant loads carried by consumption of roach (Rutilus rutilus, Linnaeus, 1758), a bioindicator of environmental pollution from the Cyprinidae family in freshwater systems. We analyzed the concentrations of 26 potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in the muscle, gills, and liver, and 18 organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in the muscle of roach originating from reservoirs (artificial lakes) with different uses (power generation and water supply) and anthropogenic impacts. Elemental concentrations were compared to maximum allowable concentrations and used to calculate pollution indices, including the metal pollution index and liver/muscle Hg index, health risk and benefit indices (target hazard quotient-THQ, target cancer risk-TR, Se:Hg, Na:K, and Ca:Mg ratios), and contributions of selected trace elements and macronutrients in roach meat.

The active ingredients of essential plant oils appear as potentially effective antinematodal drugs or substances that can potentiate the action of already-existing anthelmintics. Iron deficiency (ID) is the most prevalent micronutrient deficiency globally, affecting approximately one in four individuals, with a particularly high burden among children, women of reproductive age, and populations in low- and middle-income countries. It contributes significantly to the global burden of disease, with consequences ranging from impaired cognitive and motor development in children to increased risks during pregnancy, including low birth weight, preterm delivery, and maternal mortality, as well as reduced physical performance and quality of life in adults. ID often precedes iron deficiency anemia (IDA), though clinical and functional impairments-such as cognitive deficits, immune dysfunction, and fatigue-can occur even in the absence of anemia.

This work examines the possibility of using a PbO-based electrode doped with the rare-earth metal holmium in the field of oxygen evolution and the development of an efficient method for the degradation of acetamiprid. Acetamiprid is a widely used insecticide and, as such, it very often reaches waterways, where it can cause many problems for wildlife and the environment. X-ray powder diffraction analysis, Raman spectroscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy results confirmed the structure of Ti/SnO-SbO/Ho-PbO, while the morphology of its surface was investigated by scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.

This study aimed to evaluate whether clear corneal incisions (CCIs) created with the FEMTO LDV Z8 femtosecond laser during cataract surgery are non-inferior to manual CCIs in terms of surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) and higher-order aberrations (HOAs). A total of 78 cataract patients were randomly assigned to two groups: 38 eyes underwent femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), and 40 eyes underwent conventional manual cataract surgery (CCS). This paper presents the novel design of a printed, low-cost, dual-port, and dual-polarized slot antenna for microwave biomedical radars. The butterfly shape of the radiating element, with orthogonally positioned arms, enables simultaneous radiation of both vertically and horizontally polarized waves. The antenna is intended for full-duplex in-band applications using two mutually isolated antenna ports, with the CPW port on the same side of the substrate as the slot antenna and the microstrip port positioned orthogonally on the other side of the substrate.

Given the environmental significance of the textile industry, especially the accumulation of nondegradable materials, there is extensive development of greener approaches to fabric waste management. Here, we investigated the biodegradation potential of three strains in model compost on polyamide (PA) and polyamide-elastane (PA-EA) as synthetic, and on cotton (CO) as natural textile materials.
